Because of layering , count me out

Goodbye. You won’t be missed. Enjoy the tissues.

lol…if they are unsubbed then they left already.
Really can’t say “bye” to someone already gone.

Remember this is not GD which floods with ‘bye felicia’ posts.
GD needs subs to post. But not here.

That’s as good as someone in retail telling me my post isn’t valid because I’m not level 120.

If they keep layering around after a month, I will be right behind you. I don’t enjoy manipulated game play by Buzzard. Buzzard could easily shakedown player’s for server transfers just by sticking player’s in a forgotten layer. Layering, shards, crz, bots, and phasing all tools to curtail the experience for maximum profits. Whatever happened to making a game fun. Whatever happened to integrity of late? Buzzard has a chance to make things right again. We will just have to wait and find out.

So the same thing as vanilla?

I should make a list of how many people say they won’t be playing the game come release date over the smallest things. I would really enjoy calling them out, ha.

Anyway, I’m not going to try to convince you Siç to play, if this is really an issue, then all the best to you.

For the rest of anyone else who possibly passes through this thread with concerns; layering is required. The advantages of it trades off the inconvenience. When I played on the stress test, even with layering, I was still joining groups and fighting for mobs. Imagine if we were thrown all together!?

Back in early 2005, I remember my friend constantly complaining how it’s taking him hours to get this thing done because people killing his quest objective.

I at the time played Guild Wars (lol) and mocked him how I never have that problem and bugged him to join me on GW instead (he didn’t for good reason).

As much as I’d like the world be all connected, I’d rather not wait extended login times or excessive quest delays due to how crowded it will be.

I don’t think blizzard wants to disconnect people from each other, especially with how fragile the Vanilla #nochange can be. I think this is a calculated step just as the 2 hour trade window is.

I’m super excited for Classic, layering is the least of my worries.

Why do people keep thinking the layer hopping exploit will remain when Classic goes live? Is it even in the Beta right now or has it been patched?

Why would each layer have an entire server’s worth of players? That defeats the entire purpose of layering. Who said anything about 10 layers with 3k people on each layer?

No one is on board to the hypothetical situation you created. The people who aren’t hyperventilating on their keyboard are going to see what’s going to happen over the next two months rather than running around with our hands up in the air freaking out about something that might happen. Why would Blizzard allow people to exploit layering? Why would Blizzard put more people on a server than they originally had?

Based on what historical data?

Those were two separate statements. Phase 2 and making new servers are not connected at all.

The layers won’t have more players than the server can handle after being combined. The total number of players in all the layers on a server will not exceed the maximum number of players the server and game is designed to accommodate. The whole purpose of layering is to ease congestion and that can’t be done with an entire server’s worth of players on each layer.

I think new people were gonna play regardless. Layering is a tool so those play can play and not lock them out because realm queue would be hours long.

I know the original vanilla players are just acting like gate keepers to classic. They don’t want new people in classic

Excellent points.

I really want to put emphasis; why would Blizzard do that to themselves and anger the community by “separating” them on same realm. There is a solid reason which many have pointed out.

I’m personally glad Blizzard is testing this now rather than waiting for actual release. Imagine what it would be like if they overlooked such an idea and release layering after release—when people are stuck either getting into servers, or locked into the starting zone because there are too many people trying to kill quest mobs?

Yeah… no. Good move on their part.

good to hear.

Because the Classic team team at Blizzard answers to higher authorities? This is something that shouldn’t be surprising to anyone who has been a shareholder.
The classic project cannot be monetized which is not what a shareholder wants to hear. Therefore, the rationale behind “layering” is cost based. Less fixed/variable costs in the long run dealing with Server upkeep / shutdown / transfers etc. You’re delusional if you think this decision is being done in the fan’s best interest. Blizzard wants retail players who are tiring of the game to stay subscribed / resubscribe through classic. The core that played vanilla back in the day isn’t the main target for ACTIVISION BLIZZARD suits because it’s not profitable. People my age have kids, their lives have changed etc. They want millennials to keep subscribed and they know that they will put up with layering, even argue for it just for the sake of it. The streamer apathy is assisting them in this endeavor.

dont let the door hit you

Which is why I’m wondering if blizz shouldn’t rethink their decision to over classic with normal wow subscription. Isn’t that just inviting tourists in? Wouldn’t it be better to have classic on a separate sub for at least the first month or so to throttle back the tourists?

Nope, since most tourists are not going to be from the current game, and if they are, we won’t need layering or anything, and also , just because someone isn’t playing current WoW , they are not guaranteed to stay either.

People have been worrying waaaaaaaaaaaay too much about Current WoWs player source, when it should be if things go well, the smallest player source by far, and if not, well ,like I said above, then we wouldn’t need anything at all, or for very long.

Well, some percentage of those tourists will fall in love and stay. Some will not adapt and will walk away. Which percentage is which I can only take wild guesses at.

Oh hey this thread again.

Good job making yourself seem like a complete idiot.

Lol.

They’re doing it so they don’t have empty servers 6 months after launch. Just fold in the layer with the other one. Problem solved.

We know there is no such thing as “smooth launches”. I imagine it’s a dream all devs have.

Way to much about projections after launch as well.

If people are truly concerned, they could always wait until they announce the end of layering…

You have been removed from the count.

I have no idea what any of this means so I’m still going to play the game. Hopefully it doesn’t mean there will be 2 people in Ironforge or multiple world bosses on one server.
