Hey guys I’m just curious, do you think blizzard will announce a bc/ wotlk server at the same time they announce vanilla servers? Because I’d much rather start in bc or wotlk and skip vanilla
No, if they decide to make them (and I hope they do) they will announce that they are making them first, then have to get a team for them, then the servers. Right now they don’t have anyone to run them.
Not at the same time, or they would have announced they were working on them. Maybe in a couple years.
you mean announce them when they launch Classic servers? Because they announced Classic awhile ago now:O)
I bet they do eventually. If so, I really hope they leave the vanilla classic realms intact. I really don’t care for the xpac model that invalidates most everything previously accomplished.
Am still kind of mad about the BC launch lol.
they’ll do whatever makes sense for them financially. if classic ends up being a huge success despite the lack of microtransactions that makes retail a profitable venture, you can definitely assume that BC and WOTLK will be coming down the road.
I wouldn’t be shocked if they introduced playtime tokens as a way of jumping some extra cash if they say itll “combat gold selling like it has in modern WoW”. of course, this will come along 6+ months post launch after you’re already invested.
they’ll do whatever makes sense for them financially.
This is the crux of it.
IF it is financially viable, it may happen.
Yeah, in the end, if they think it will make them $$ then its easily on the table. But I feel they will wait at least a year or two and monitor classic to see if its financially feasible.
Yeah, I feel the same way about the new content always putting you back. The BC content, which many people claim they loved; I hated. I wasn’t even ready for new content when TBC was released. I had 2 or 3 years left easily. If they move forward, they need to make new servers, and keep Classic separate. My advice would be to create new content for Classic, or keep it in the same model.
I think if there is a significant increase in subs there’s a good chance we see TBC and at least wrath.
I’m hoping to see them all again myself.
Im going to be hopping that too :O)
There is definitely demand for BC and WotLK. And Classic will always be there for us.
Whoops. I’ll correct but its kinda funny.
lol yah I was feeling silly my bad :O)
Was funny.
I am kind of hopping to get them though.
Staying to think phones have auto correct for no good reason.
I think it will be several months, maybe a year, after Classic launch before they decide if it would be worth it to go to BC or Wrath. They’ll wait through the initial rush and see who sticks around a little longer term.
I’m hoping, if they do introduce them, they leave the Classic servers alone and let them stay Classic. That includes not allowing toons to leave Classic and start BC at 60, for example. There should be no links between these museum pieces, imo.
I also hope they wait at least 3-4 years after Classic launch to launch BC, if they do that. I’m kinda looking forward to a game with no expiration date, with no clock ticking telling me when all the gear I collected is going to be worthless and vendored after I replace it with questing greens from BC…
Which I believe it will be.
But, if you believe that they won’t find a way to add MTXs into Classic in some fashion, you might want to rethink it. There will be MTXs in Classic at some point in some fashion, you can bet on that.
Also, add a +1 for WotLK servers. Best time (along with MoP) in WoW, IMO.
I don’t think so.
If you consider the issue of population in current live game and the introduction of classic somewhat competing with it, any further xpac servers would slice and dice up the player base even further.
If Classic sees a lot of play, Blizzard would be crazy if they don’t implement BC and WotLK servers somewhere down the line as well.
Each progressive expansion would only become easier to implement, as well, since they have all the database data from everything post-1.12, and the base code is written more and more like the modern stuff the further it progresses.
I had a mixed reaction to TBC. Most of the zones were beautiful and fun to explore. As a new thing, flying was amazing, although I could see where that road led even back then. The new talent tiers were pretty awesome, actually.
Having all my midlevel raiding gear obsoleted overnight was not cool. Having all the base raids, half of which I hadn’t even seen yet, pretty much die was not cool. BC dungeons were kinda boring, and the faction grinds were (for the first time, for me) miserable. I quit WoW halfway through BC.
