You had a time limit on your login key. When you hit it, you get disconnected. You can log right back in, but if there is a queue, you are now in it.
Hell a disconnect then a 5 min leeway to log back in immediately would even help. Then those AFKers would get knocked out and if they didn’t log back in in time, they get queued and someone else gets to play.
8 hours honestly seems reasonable. Again, if you are there you can just immediately log back in, if not…

We are sold unlimited equal access.
As such then adding a limit goes directly adverse what was sold to us.
While they can do it can’t do it without refunds or waiting till all sold subs run out so 6 months notice.
In the end not a good fix to fix a problem that is within what your paying for with something that goes adverse to what customers are paying for.
Plus waiting 6 months to fix a problem is not really a good thing. Why a ok long term goal not really the long term goal I would use but long at a more reasonable fix. Such and getting people to transfer by force if nessary by breaking realm into two with limits have to pick one wait to pick and it fills you don’t get an option.

What about a time based “Are you still playing” popup that addon’s can’t touch?

exactly when was that. They left the servers open as was no ques so was room at the time. If they assumed everyone would return always after a realm reached a set pop would never be able to get a new player again if no transfers and that’s not good for realm health.
While yes caping them sooner would of been good but that is a subjective call and blizzard admitted to making a bad one but the past is the past no point really dwelling on it dosent help the situation.
My point is they were happy to accept all the transfer dollars and now seem more than happy to tell their playerbase to shove it and also it’s THEIR fault.

I can’t be the only one who remembers how several layers appeared on classic servers during high congestion.
Did they announce anything? No. Did it still happen? Yes.
They can do it again. They just…won’t? For some reason?
Layers won’t help this has been said tons of time.
Layers do nothing to help with total pop on a realm they are there to reduce congestion in areas.
Please get up to date with the issue before making suggestions.
