Battle.net app requires authenticator to log in but can't access authenticator while loggin in

Just came back after a few years away and am dealing with the authenticator now being in the battle.net app instead of a separate app.

I have everything set up and can log into the game and the website, but I can’t log into the battle.net app on my phone. When i try to log in it takes me to a screen to enter the authenticator code. But the only way to access the authenticator is to back out of that screen, which cancels the authentication request. It’s a bit of a paradox how you’re supposed to login.

I thought they removed the authenticator if you had the old app only, and issued password resets. If the authenticator is still present, and you do not have sms, then you will need to put in a ticket to have the old authenticator removed by billing.

I had the old authenticator removed. That ticket was completed. Then I set up the new authenticator. When I did that, it logged me out of everything and made me log back in. I am able to log into the game, and online accounts and the new authenticator works just as it is supposed to.

However, when I try to log into the app, it takes me to a screen and asks for an authenticator code. It does not pop up the notification to approve the log in. The only way to get to the authenticator to get a code, is to back out of the screen asking for the code.

am having issues with the authenticator as of today as well. or rather the battlenet app itself. it is “still connecting” and does not login

Yeah I’m having the same issue. I log into the Battle.net app, and it says I need to approve my log in using the Authenticator, which is the battle.net app. So, the app I’m logging into needs me to log into it before logging into it. Huh? Exactly.

Are you migrating from a old fob authenticator, or the now defunct stand alone authenticator?

Alright I was able to log into the Battle.net app without having to approve my log in. I had them send a text message to my phone and used that to log in. Hope this helps anyone with the same issue.

Same issue here.

Neither. I am using the current battle.net app from scratch, no fob or authenticator app ever used before.

I can log in to the actual game, the website, etc with zero issues.
But I cannot log in to the app. Attempting to log in asks for an authenticator code, but the only way to access the authenticator code is to access the authenticator, cancelling the login. Sometimes it even helpfully tells me to check my authenticator for login requests, but there aren’t any when you navigate to that screen.
Manually copying the 30-second authenticator code and then logging in also didn’t work. The app just hangs forever (restarted phone, cleared cache, cleared data, switched browsers, reinstall- hangs every time, never logs in).

This is the fix! Thank you!
