Just saying, win or lose, it’s the only consistent and best past of this game. You should focus on this Blizzard. No other PvP game has what you have for fun. Your best battleground Alterac Valley was released in 2008.
I feel like more than one developer has said that Arenas was the one thing they wish they could disinvent because it pigeonholed so much of their class design.
Solo Queue Rated BGs will probably redefine my entire WoW life.
I really wish Blizz focused on BG’s, epic BGs and rated BG’s over Arena.
But it’s too late for that shift in design philosophy.
BG’s, as bad as PVP may be, is why I play alts. And it’s one of my main gearing up motivators. Especially since world PVP died (for me anyways) with Warmode.
I think this timeline is sus.
I feel like ScoJo tells her husband she regrets not marrying me, too.
BGs is the peak of the pvp experience, what a blast. Wish we could get more…
What I mean was I think I remember a couple of interviews where the developers said the words, I just don’t remember who and when.
There was a blizzcon q&a with one of the raid designers about sunwell back before WotLK was announced who said something about it being difficult to tune arena and raid performance where both could be balanced in response to someone asking about a nerf that had just gone out for pvp that had hurt a class in pve, I want to say it was a warlock question, but it was super long ago.
That’s the only one I can think of.
I NEEEEEEEEEEEEED THIS D;
and big agree OP. Bgs, even as alliance, are the best aspect of this game.
The funny thing is that back in TBC and even in the TBC beta, a lot of players on these forums expressed such concerns, but of course it fell on deaf ears.
The worst part is that arenas still aren’t really that great despite the huge tradeoff made to PvP elsewhere in the game for them to exist. They’re too easy to tilt with a broken class or two. Battlegrounds work way better because the sheer numbers paper over egregious class strengths and weaknesses.
BGs are still the one thing WoW has that keeps me around no matter what else is going on with the game.
I still love lowish level AB.
instanced pvp is meaningless.
Same my friend
@everyone in this thread
Not sure if yall caught it from the Asmongold/ion interview, but ion hinted that they are considering “watering down” our selection of battleground maps in 10.0
It sounds like they intend to “timegate” different BG maps to a certain time of the year or “season” - similar to what they are doing with M+ dungeon maps. Obviously this is not good, keep that “season” BS out of our casual content
I made a feedback thread over on the PTR board about this topic:
https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/re-the-seasonal-idea-for-casual-bgs-concernsfeedback/1231620
If you could, go drop a quick comment in there and let Blizzard know that we DON’T want this “seasons” BS applied to unrated/casual battlegrounds. We want new BG maps “in addition to” what’s already in the map pool - not having the existing pool of maps “watered down” like they are (apparently) scheming to do
Bg’s are always fun.
I do think though that the time for bg’s being solely alliance vs horde is over, and by that I mean it’s time to mix the 2 factions to help break the defeatist culture one side or the other has to make it more fun and rewarding.
AV was definitely not released in 2008.
It was released 2004, I think?
Anyways, imagine if Dragonflight launches and we find out that Alterac Valley is only available to play during “season 3” of random battlegrounds or some similar BS timegating scheme
I hope they don’t work there anymore.
What…umm…I literally log in and just queue for battlegrounds.
Well, maybe you should go watch the Asmongold replay then. Ion starts talking about the “plan” for casual battlegrounds from around the 5:00 minute mark to the 8:00 minute mark. Just go to Asmon’s Youtube channel and the ion interview should be there.
Need to pay attention to changes in policy/bad ideas/what ion says in interviews, since changes to the game will “trickle down” to you whether you like it or not
