What on earth are you people doing? You are splitting up the existing battlegroup in order to make sure the west coast’s BG weekend starts at the same numerical - but not literal - time as the east coast? Why? BG weekends end at realm maintenance on tuesdays. You’re splitting up the battlegroup in order to steal 3 hours of BG weekend from the west coast for absolutely no discernible reason. Talk about a solution in search of a problem.
I have characters on horde and alliance. This isn’t a faction issue, so stop trying to create strawman arguments yourself. This is a sub level 60 pvp issue. I don’t know why this is so hard for you to grasp.
Barely increasing your odds of running into some other 60 so you can try to feel like theres a community at 60 is a fools dream. The sub 60 brackets already have a community that exists, and this change is going to butcher them. Not to mention, it will make anyone who just wants to casually pvp in bgs before 60 have to wait ages to get into a game.
Like I already said. Some changes have purpose and have improved the quality of the game. Splitting the queues now, this late into classic, is just going to create more problems and thus is an unnecessary change. If they wanted to have battlegroups they should have set them up when bgs were released. Not split the community further when the player base is already slowly shrinking.
I hope there’s some way they can do this on a flexible basis that relates to actual population in-queue, or just general active population.
Maybe 10’s, 20’s, and 60’s could get the split when there are a lot of players queueing, but it’d be nice if it could merge to one pool when there’s fewer players around.
I think that in the 40’s we’re going to be seeing a lot more 8v3 bg’s that auto-close before they finish, and 1h+ queues. We already have a lot of familiar faces, but we won’t get to see them anymore.
If they felt that they had to do this, it’s really bad that they didn’t realize it or announce it sooner, and I don’t think there was ever any warning of this kind of split. It sucks to reroll, but it really sucks to reroll just because Blizzard decided they wanted a tidier BG-week schedule all of a sudden.
i play alliance twinks. the q time will be just as bad as hordes.
This is the rub. If they wanted to do this, they should have done it from the beginning, or at least announced it at the beginning. Players could have planned/rolled accordingly. This is a massive change to some brackets on less than a day’s notice.
Queues for some brackets were already about to take a hit by AB release, which is fine, but splitting the overall pool on top of that is going to keep a lot of players out of BG’s (waiting in queues) when they should be in there playing.
I gotta say that I’m scratching my head as to why battle groups weren’t there from the start. It’s not like Blizzard didn’t know this was coming since day one. Sounds like someone dropped the ball, especially considering players were just now notified.
I don’t even have a twink and I feel bad for you guys. I hate seeing communities ripped apart. Twinking was as much a part of the Vanilla experience for some as raiding or running 5 mans.
It will be a shame if it dies out because of this change, not to mention BG’s at lower levels in general. It’s even worse as there will be little gained at max level from it.
Same here. I hit 47, did some WSG, and decided to pause at 49 for a while because the games there are so good. I know I’m not the only one, because I’ve talked to quite a few others who basically are doing the same thing.
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
You ASSUME this and the only people you’re talking that can exist in this community are twinks, you can just say that they’re twinks, you don’t have to hide who you’re talking about, people leveling are not going to be spending a TON of time in any one bracket and unless they’re on the top end of the bracket they’re not going to spend a ton of time in BGs (they get wrecked, complain about twinks and generally leave after being camped). so again I do not care one ounce about your twink communities having to wait a bit longer to try and stomp people.
But this is an assumption also, isn’t it?
I think this is not accurate.
You mean my experience on MY twink? I get in and have one other twink on my team over half the team will complain, 3 will afk at gy right away and the other 4 will play for 15 minutes until they get tired of being camped and /afk out and will generally have one or two nontwinks who stick it out but are often bemoaning about how we should just let them win.
and how would it not be accurate? if they are leveling even if they’re slow leveling, they’re not gonna spend months in the 20-29 bracket, you can try and complain about the 50s bracket taking longer it still aint gonna take longer than that if they’re trying at all.
nah.
Killing off sub 60 BGs and halving competition at 60 in order to sync BG holidays is actually a very bad idea.
Just have the holidays based on one time zone. It’s not confusing at all. Have it start at 12 AM PST, and we EST people will know that just means it’s starting at 3 AM for us. The times the servers will go down for WoW updates are posted in PST; the one for tomorrow says it will be down 7 AM to 3 PM PST, so I instantly know 10 AM to 6 PM for me. No one has a problem posting update times in PST, so why not just say the holiday starts in PST? We’re used to weird times, such as the rank reset at 11 AM for me. Now I know holiday start is 3 AM for me. No reason to make long queue times over people learning 3 AM instead of 12 AM.
The level of WTF in this thread is staggering. All they’re doing is making sure everyone knows when the bonus honor and rep starts.
Here’s how they could make sure everyone knows: Tell people it is 12 AM PST for example, and that it is 3 AM EST. Now everyone knows, and there’s no need to split up brackets if that’s what they plan on doing.
I don’t see much of this in 40’s, maybe it has to do with greater class/gear/enchant disparity at the 20’s bracket, or the time-of-day that I’m on. Most of the matches I see in 40’s get played out to the end, and we’ll pretty frequently get matches that last an hour or more with both teams capping.
:donothing:
I don’t like this change because it effectively means lower level brackets will have 50% less queues now. If lower level queues die instantly, I will be cancelling my subscription.
Leave the lower level queues how they are currently.
Can you please stop ruining the game we all love. Battelgroups ruin the game. My WSG squad now has zero competition. We used to play against some great teams from servers on the other batttlegroup. Facerolling wsg could not be more boring. Please tell me this is a temporary thing only for the weekend.
How about fixing the Black Lotus issue!!! Could care less about pvp!
What an awful “fix” for an extremely minor issue. The only thing that this will accomplish is help kill sub-60 pvp and ruin the communities that have been built there. Please reconsider this change.
