First off, I want to say I’m mostly enjoying Blitz. This has been a fun addition to the game, and largely it’s due to the somewhat balanced gearing that everyone is set to. I feel like team fights are much more engaging when folks are on a level playing field.
My primary complaint with this format has to do with the map selection. About 90% of the time, I am queued into Battle for Gilneas. I’d like to see more variety in the maps I get to play. As a healer, the queues are generally pretty quick, but the same map on repeat wears thin. I enjoy playing objectives and the team aspect of a BG, which is why I don’t arena.
If there could be a way to ensure map diversity for subsequent queues, that would be a game changer. If it isn’t Battle for Gilneas, I feel like the only other maps I get are Temple and Silvershard Mines. Not sure what everyone else’s experience has been here, but I’d like to play more than 3 maps when there are so many other options out there.
It’s just all RNG. You can get streaks of getting the same BGs in random queues as well. Flag carry maps are rarer than they should be in Blitz, however, due to tank requirement.
My problem with Blitz isn’t the maps but gross team mismatches. Sometimes it feels like you’re a LFG yolo vs. 2400 experience players. And the other way around too. But I’m not sure what they can do about that. Maybe disallowing healer duo-queuing might help a bit?
No. Duo queue isn’t the problem. It’s just how match making works sometimes. My husband and I will duo queue and sometimes we stomp and sometimes we get stomped. Doesn’t seem to matter. Just luck
Sometimes, yes. I’ve seen plenty of mismatches, but I’ve only seen one devolve into a full GY camp so far. And some of those KB stomps have been losses for the team doing the stomping because they were overcommitting to the team fights to get those kills.
I’m fairly certain that I haven’t got twin peaks a single time. And I might be the only one that likes seething shore, but I wouldn’t mind if you threw that one in the mix too
Something I wanted to throw out here after doing two Blitz’s tonight.
I think we’ve all seen our team MMR fluctuate wildly from match to match. But at least the two respective teams per match were closely rated.
What I hadn’t seen prior to tonight were massive disparities between respective team MMR. For instance, I just got curb-stomped by a team that was 240 “matchmaking” points lower than us, LOL.
I think when there aren’t many people queueing they REALLY relax the matchmaking ranges. One night I stayed up very very late and was getting some very strange matchups.
Typically during prime time when queues aren’t bad the teams are pretty close in MMR.
200+ MMR disparities are very common for those first placement games, but very rare when out of those placement games, but I’ve seen it happen as well (as stated above).
eh its more of the fact it allows pvers to queue, one match you got people who actually pvp the next you got people who fight ai 24/7. Majority of the matches are people who pve going into bg blitz just to run around and do dmg and not the objective which is one flaw of not having a pvp ilvl requirement on it. I get its a casual mode right now but even with the scaling it can’t help people who come in just to not do the objective i wait 30 minutes just to get a team of pvers who sit mid on the pandaren map and not grab other bases and we lose great waste of time ngl. also has the leave problem on top of that gone 4 matches so far of this mode and had leavers.
Yes, there are definitely loads of low honor level players in Blitz. Players that, with all due respect, don’t know what the hell they’re doing. Then you switch to a random and it’s like poof so that’s where all the triple digit players are.
