Battleground Blitz CR/Rank Distribution (Americas and Oceania) - Week 1

Hello battleground blitzers.

I have created a spreadsheet that uses data from checkpvp to track the distribution of rank/cr in this new gamemode.

Disclaimer:

I cannot post links in this topic :frowning:

Disagree with the data? Great! It is always good to debate and fact check. Go prove me otherwise! However, If your post does not contain calculations I will just ignore it. That being said, this data was collected just after the first weekly reset and will likely change when you view the source data from checkpvp. As to what sample of players blizzard will include in to form the r1 cutoffs? I am not sure. This could be players for cr>0, cr>1k who knows? I would love some clarification.

Assumptions:
I am using using the base number of players (at the time of writing) to form the population. This is the total number of players with cr >0. This number is 38932 (remember to set slider to 0-max on checkpvp).

Please keep in mind R1 may differ between specs and is certainly not 2480 for all specs.

Data:

Inverse Percentile Rank Rating
0.1 38.932 2480
1 389.32 2010
5 1946.6 1693
10 3893.2 1613
20 7786.4 1511
30 11679.6 1283
40 15572.8 951
50 19466 576
60 23359.2 384
70 27252.4 384
80 31145.6 192
90 35038.8 192
100 38932 167

Comments:

Suprised? I was too! There are a lot of people who play this game and this game mode. In SL season 1196 players got the hero title (even more if you include cutoffs from both factions). This was the top 0.5% of the population at the time. Given this, we can say that there were 239200 players included in the calculation. A lot of people played that season.

Google serramate to view this data.

Questions:

What are your thoughts?

Stay tuned for next week’s data. Thank you and have a lovely day <3

Cool? I’m not sure what Im suppose to think. If Im reading this correctly I reached where the top 10% of players have ranked so far in about 10 hours of Solo BG play? Gonna play a ton more this season obviously. From the few players mentioning their experiences, they hit a wall and lost a bit of rating after getting a personal season record of around 1950, going back down to 1600-1700 after 4 or so consecutive losses. Others are still below 1600 reporting they stuggle to climb and are going a bit above and below 1600.

My little bit of rating I cant take all the credit for as its very much a requirement to have an objective minded team to succeed, but I sure do love playing Solo BG regardless of what rating or MMR I’m at.

This is the best attitude to have. I had a hard time at the start (even after winning my first 3 games, from memory). I changed my strat and have been slowly climbing and was playing at 2150mmr today  . I am excited to give it my all, try my best and see if I can claim a rank 1 arms warrior title.

Best of luck to you, keep up the good attitude.

I wonder if they will throttle this modes ratings…

a whole lot of people played 2-3 games and stopped as soon as they lost one.

People are already 2600 so i doubt it. I see it going to probs 3200?

Looks like nearly all players quit after 3 or 4 wins leaving just the hardcore players left.

Or they didn’t quit and just did things to conquest cap the first week like me. I am just gearing multiple toons so I haven’t really pushed all that much. Its only the first week.

This is another reason why mmr grows over the entire season. While i dont do this on my main, i certainly do this on my alts.
