The worst part about this is that the tech support team is so incompetent at the moment that the people with higher end rigs or even scrubs like me who were cranking everything they could out of their low powered potatoes seem to know more about what these settings were doing than the tech support. Either they haven't been briefed, or they've been briefed to the contrary and it's bad either way. They knew about this in PTR.
People are paying to have a working game and Blizzard still cbf to actually use their sub money to implement a functioning game. Why? For a forced "feature" that only ever benefited 1% of players who are streamers? Instead of the default EFS that ran well for everyone? And know their tech support is clueless about how to fix problems that removing EFS caused which, shock horror, is actually causing them to lose more money in the long run in addition to losing subs.
Simplest solution would be creating 2 clients, a DX11 and DX12 version same as us previously having a 32 and 64 bit client. The DX11 executable could give us back EFS and the DX12 executable could be used by those able to use DX12 and have no issues caused by the lack of EFS.

Looks like Blizzard keeps denying there is an EFS issue and we now have them telling us they don't plan to fix it. This is the worst start to any expansion ever. I'm beginning to wonder if we won't see HUGE subscriptions losses the way this is playing out. I'm bummed. I really wanted to play BFA.
This is what they did during v2.2. They kept telling people there was no issue, and kept giving pointless suggestions like reinstalling our audio drivers or making sure that our audio mixer settings were set correctly.
The funny thing? Right before that patch dropped, they actually put out a preemptive warning that the audio engine would be changing and that they would not tolerate complaints (I'm dead serious) and that account suspensions would be handed out to those who did. So they knew full well what was in store for people, but didn't want to deal with it.
This is a similar situation. They knew people would be unhappy, so they're sticking their heads in the sand, claiming nothing is wrong, and hoping we'll eventually go away.
Which we won't.

Yea they've started hiding my comments in other threads. I'm a developer and this is a classic example of lazy coding. Hopefully this starts getting more national coverage (like the article on Yahoo). The sad part is they can easily put back EFS in DX 11.
We should not need to be posting on the forums about this. Full support for EFS in DX 11 is an industry standard....period.
The even funnier part is I was planning on buying one of the new Nvidia GTX 1180 video cards. I don't really want to pay for a new video card that will get the same fps as my GTX 980 ti did before the 8.0.1 patch. Seems kinda silly.
08/12/2018 03:40 PMPosted by BosshogIs there anyone who is familiar with video game development? Would adding the full screen option back take a lot of time and money?
No. They just didn't want to be bothered doing it in the first place.
The old Blizzard: "It's done when it's done."
Modern Blizzard: "It's done when Activision says it's done."

Still upset this isn't being properly addressed especially with BFA launching tomorrow. I want to be excited but it's hard when you don't know if you'll even be able to play or not. I've wanted to see Kul Tiras and Zandalar in game for years and it's so disappointing the expansion we finally get them my excitement is taken away by something like this.

Realistically, even if they announced this moment that they were reverting the change, it wouldn't be implemented until 8.1 at the earliest.
The first content patch has historically been the "post-release polish patch" where they fix and finish things they didn't get done before launch (expansions always release unfinished.) So that would be the patch I would expect for it to be in, if they unmog the stick out of their rear ends and give us back EFS.
I would be fine knowing it isn't coming till the next patch. Just knowing it would be fixed would make me happy.
Please bring it back for DX11 users. Please don't bury this.
Looks like they are trying the ol' jedi mind trick with this one.
Please Blizzard give us back Fullscreen, I can't read any of your in-game text when my tv is set to 1920x1080. When I'm playing in my normal 1600x900 I can read everything. this is more than just a loss of frame rate here, it's a loss of how we all play together. I myself play with, brace yourself yes a controller. Working construction and getting carpal tunnel will do that. So when I play I like to see, and read and play comfortably.

Blizzard's giving me new motivation to farm gold purely to be a burden on their servers and not pay for it with each and every single time they attempt to carpet sweep this problem.
I DONT LIKE CHANGE! thats how you all sound.

It's more: I DON'T LIKE THE CHANGE BECAUSE THE GAME I PAID FOR IS BLOODY UNPLAYABLE SINCE BLIZZARD CAN'T CODE A POTATO AND NOW THEY'RE REFUSING TO ADMIT IT'S A PROBLEM.
And that's on high end and low end rigs because Blizzard sucks at coding their game. This isn't even a hardware related problem.

I like change. Just not when that change turns the game from playable to unplayable.

Exactly this. And the reception to criticism has been laughably stoic in the desire for the developers and technical support teams appear as though this was an 'intentional change' which benefitted all. Despite all evidence indicating that it was simply an act of laziness.
They have passed the buck onto the desire for a fully compatible Dx12 implementation, despite that making no sense. There is no reason why EFS should not have remained.
It has significantly punished those at both the lower and upper ends of the PC hardware spectrum.
It's a shame that, because someone else's experience has not changed, they believe mine must have also remained unmolested.

33 pages. No Blue response. Blue Responses on other threads indicate they aren't going to address this any time soon. They either don't care, or don't feel like it's a big enough impact to their customer base to make it worth their while.
I ditched my Crossfire, and got a 1060. I'm back to roughly the same performance I was at prior to the patch.
I wouldn't mind so much if the graphics engine had seen some major overhaul - but when the graphics are still massively outclassed by other AAA titles, and performance on the same hardware is so handicapped, one wonders what exactly we are gaining from these 'improvements'.

Fixing it at this point may be a substantial effort (although enabling EFS for DX11 should be easy), and they have apparently decided to take the hit. They figure a few people will leave over it. Acceptable losses. I don't think they are going to respond to a lot of complaints unless they think those complaints will translate into a lot of lost subscriptions.
