Battle grounds and conq gear

They need to make honor gear scale to duelist in normal battle grounds. So new people coming into pvp won’t just quit after one bg. Also make conquest gear upgrade freely once hitting the upgrade marks.

it’s been long believed this is the goal, PVP is hard to balance and the current devs aren’t pvpers, not a one. they view it as a side mini game, they would rather pvpers and our constant complaints for balance, changes, and attention just go away.

the sad thing is the wow is a pretty crappy pve game, but has easily the best engine for pvp in its entire genre, even better than other whole pvp dedicated genres like mobas. devs are sitting on a gold mine, but too shortsighted to realize it.

How do you know this?

if you aren’t aware of the outstanding information on the subject:

Ion’s shaman:
https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/character/us/malganis/Gurgthock/pvp

honor level 6, it was 5 at the start of BfA from the prestige to honor level conversion.

and most of us played more games of whatever last season then he has in his entire wow career, which started in vanilla.

then there is always this golden oldie:

from what i understand that specific dev no longer works for blizz, but when you look at corruption in 8.3, and then the removal of scaling in 9.0, and then the rating for ilvl system, and then the silly abilities like the hunt and convoke, and then these new trinkets, 4 sets and double leggos, its pretty clear the mentality of that video is still alive and well at blizzard.

The devs are annoyed with pvpers at best and at worst hate them.

49 other levels of pvp if you dont like level 60.

I don’t understand why they don’t let random battlegrounds count towards vault progress.

LFR players can do LFR for a LFR-quality piece, right? Why can’t BG players at least get Unranked conquest stuff for unranked battlegrounds?

RBGs are dead otherwise. that had almost 0 participation during BfA.

This is actually wrong. I can see why people believe this. But many devs would love to see PvP flourish. Problem is the resources aren’t given to PvP. If they wanted PvP to just go away they wouldn’t continue to dump money into AWC.

This is something that a lot of people in and out of the PvP community have been trying to tell Blizzard for a while. Even Bellular has brought it up a few times and he is a raiding junkie. They could easily make PvP as popular or more than PvE. It honestly wouldn’t even take much to turn it in a different direction that it is going now. My opinion is it’s a leadership thing. As leadership change so did the commitment to PvP. I mean they ditched even having a PvP team.

Interested where this “they had almost zero participation” number is coming from.

Because then they would have to let regular/heroic dungeons count towards vault progress.

LFR is still end game content. You can’t compare BGs to LFR. BGs if anything are comparable to normal/heroic dungeons.

Yeah, it shouldn’t be like that.

What do you mean?

couldn’t tell you because i wasn’t participating.

wait a minute…

I mean I did a lot of RBGs in BfA. So that means RBGs participation was WAY UP right? Your participation doesn’t = almost zero for the rest of the base. Ya it was down, but so was arena and a lot of other things.

they honestly shouldn’t be compared, the power gains of PVE are due to creating differences in difficulty and using power as the progression model, this isn’t needed in pvp because we have authentic skill progression. BIS for pvp should come form PVP. no qualifiers, no special modes, any PVP, all PVP. and by BIS i mean BIS, everything, enchants, gem sockets, borrowed power.

“RBGs are dead” was a solid meme the whole of BfA. there were a few groups running them, but nothing compared to the past. they are better now, but not because people want to be there, only because they have to be there, this is mostly unrated and casual pvpers trying to fill their rated honor quota for the weekly vault.

AWC with 7k viewers though.
Hopefully the Fearless Spectator title can prop this up.

RBGs in a 10 v 10 format in general aren’t good. But PvP participation in general has gone down. But I am taking about your statement “near 0”. But “PvP is dead” has also been a solid meme for a long time. So participation for pvp in general must be “near 0”.

I mean this helps my statement. Viewership in general has been down for a while, but they continue to fund it. If they wanted PvP to die, why continue to fund it? They even increased prize pools.

I will also throw in not having LAN events has probably hurt as well. Especially no Blizzcon.
