So I’ve been wanting a Bard class since I started playing this game back in Cataclysm. I really enjoyed playing Rogue, Warlock and Shaman, and kind of didn’t like the new classes they added (Demon Hunter and Monk for me, since I started in Cata and had DK already).
I was thinking, is a Bard class even possible in World of Warcraft? The only thing similar to a Bard I have ever found is a Dwarf Bard in the Rogue Class Order Hall, and he wasn’t really that talkative either. I feel it could be an interesting class to play and I’d really enjoy having it as a healer class, since we haven’t had a healer class since Mist of Pandaria.
How hard would it be for Blizzard to develop a Bard class? Would it be that difficult? is the idea not enough on it’s own to have 2 or 3 specs to play? I’d like read your opinion.
Would I like Bard? Yes. Will we get one? Probably not. As far as I know, it only exists in game lore as an April Fool’s Joke. Pandas started as a joke but are in game now so who knows.
I think Tinker is much more likely as more of a support-style class.
FFXIV has a bard… it’s the upgraded version of the Archer class. In that game it’s a DPS/support, but the traditional D&D-style bard is primarily a support class. The point is, it’s definitely possible. Anything is “possible” in the game; I mean, they write the rules of it. Just comes down to if they think it would be popular enough.
And as has been said, in WoW lore the bard isn’t really much of a thing; tinker is much more likely.
Do you really think a Tinker class is more possible?
I honestly feel like Blizz can kind of copy paste from any other game a few skills and ideas so they can create a Bard class rather than create a whole new idea of a tinker class.
I’d really love a Bard class though. It’s kind of a present class in every MMORPG that I’ve played. Hopefully we get one, or at least have a mini game kind of thing where we can play bard going around towns.
I would rather have no new class than tinkerer. Tinkerer sounds so stupid. Its pretty much just turning engineering into a class instead of a profession. There are so many other cooler, more interesting classes they could do.
A better alternative in my book would be as part of a 2ndary post max level class system - add flavor to already existing classes somehow with a small number of actives and passives… something any class could learn - not sure what the other options would be, but something to enhance what’s already there, rather than replace the base specs.
In Pillars of Eternity (I think), the bard combos different “phrases” or notes of songs to buff, heal, summon stuff, etc. I remember it being a really cool system that you could probably implement in a game like wow. I imagine it would be like that ele shaman talent where casting one spell changes how your other spells work (echo of elements?), but the whole class would function around mechanics like that.
BARD CLASS. IS IT POSSIBLE?
Almost everything it’s possible in this game. But adding a class that is not part of the current lord while we have others classes that were and are part of the lore and they are not playable, will be an error from Blizz and a very disapointment decision from this company for guys like me, that we play WoW because we like his lore (among other reasons).
