Banned with no explanation?

I was banned without any explanation as to what I said or did. I got a copy past memo emailed to me with no chat logs, just a link to the TOS. That’s great but, I don’t know what I said that would violate TOS and I can’t get the chat logs for some reason. This is the 2nd time I’ve been banned with no chat log or any real explanation.

We can infer from this that your penalty is related to chat. They used to include logs but since the system also copied over irrelevant snippets it was taken down indefinitely.

If a Blizzardian is free here they may jog your memory, but you will not likely get a precise chat statement.

This isn’t a ban - it’s a suspension. Very different things.

From the reports - looks like this was for toxicity - and profanity.

is profanity toxicity? why can we turn the profanity filter off in game?

We had a recent explanation about this in this whole thread for you to peruse if you got questions.

The filter is there as a tool to help people who don’t wish to see it, or don’t wish for their children to see it when setting up a child’s account. The Code of Conduct is clear that profanity isn’t allowed, the filter is irrelevant for discussions on what is allowed communication.

So I can talk about the type of cancer a friend has, not so people can shoot their mouths off without consequence.

the existence of a filter is not an excuse to use profanity :expressionless:

If blizzard wants it to be that way they should get rid of the option to turn the filter off. Profanity isn’t allowed after all right?

Wants it to be what way, exactly? Profanity isn’t allowed. That’s the rule, there being a filter as a layer of protection for those who don’t wish to see it has no bearing here.

Filter or no filter if you use profanity you will get actioned if reported!

Just because a police officer wears a bullet proof vest does not mean you are allowed to shoot them!

There is no if/then scenario, here. There’s no wanting, it’s just… being. This thread wouldn’t exist otherwise, would it? Profanity is not permitted in public spaces, full stop.

The things we use to say in game 20 years ago as kids are way worse than what were saying today, but now that the average age is like 30 we need to crack down on profanity? Get real.

I’m afraid this isn’t open for debate, Bogartin.
