Although I’m sure I’m yelling into the air with this one, here it goes:
Banned for 1 month for playing my boosted character in av for probably 36 hours out of 72 hours of the patch being live.
Didn’t afk a single bg, outside of maybe going to poop mid-bg (sorry blizzard I can’t control when I need to take a poop).
The closest thing I did to afk was to stealth on towers in Horde base to retake them after Ally had flipped or to stealth in drek’s room to cyclone the alliance tank. These are both legitimate ways to play av and it was the most impactful thing I could have done on a freshly boosted communal moonkin.
That people are illegitimately being banned for “playing too much” is hilarious. I guess we’re all just supposed to sit in the 3 hour queue instead of actually playing the game.
Good job guys, happy Labor Day!
Edit: Since this post is still towards the top of the list, I would just like to provide an update.
My suspension was reduced from 30 days to 7 days with a response to my appeal.
I still do not believe I did anything wrong as I played AV the same way I’ve played AV for the last 15 years. That I can remember, my account has never received a violation/suspension for battleground related activities. That there has been entirely mixed messaging around what the blues expect you to do, what the other players in the battleground expect you to do, and that suspensions are being upheld based on nebulous “meta-data” which is definitely being intricately reviewed (I’m sure) by a real human being, just leaves a real sour taste in my mouth towards this company.
In my view, my ban was upheld because I played the game in a way that does not provide enough meta-data for a human to accurately gauge what I was doing in an objective-based battleground where the main focus is not doing damage, healing, or pvp.
This whole situation stinks, and I really expected better from this company even though (at this point) I know I shouldn’t have.
I also don’t believe my ticket was looked at in any reasonable manner by a real person. I received an email last night saying my account suspension was being reduced while my ticket was still open. 9 hours later, I get a form response to my ticket that says the matter can’t even be appealed anymore, and that “customer service is unable to discuss this further.” I understand they’re probably swamped over there due to the situation, but how is that the customer’s fault?
I would also like to point out that the average wait time for another appeal exceeds the amount of my suspension now, so there is almost 0% chance of getting this reversed by default; nice.
