Banned for "Afking BGs"

I’m not sure what counts as “so many”, but people do make mistakes

Who are the people youre referring to? Bliz ban teams? If Blizzard are reviewing every report - there should be few overturns but there are many.

I’m also awaiting to hear from my appeal. Leveled my holy paladin through AV. finally got 70 on Saturday. I’m in the same boat as everyone else I see posting today. They need to fix the system. Alliance winning 60% of the matches, so more than half the time no Horde come to fight while you’re defending.

I’m sorry, I mean Blizzard’s employees. They also overturn them if they believe the player is sorry for what they did and acknowledges it.

If someone gets banned and lies in the appeal for example, zero chance it gets undone.

You might want to revisit what Blizzard has to say about this.

They have revised their rules on what is “legitimate play”.

If you were not with the rest of the group (and if that is a standard tactic you take often) you, in fact, can be banned for it now.

This is absurd. Its one thing to afk in the AV cave - its another to go back capping or defending nodes - and then be banned for it.

If you want to back cap a tower as a solo in the current meta you need to already be at the tower at the start of the game. Alliance will have taken both Horde base towers approximately 50 seconds into the game.

Check the new ruleset.

They ban people for not playing the way the rest of the group is playing now. If you’re going away from whatever the rest of the group is doing, it could get you banned.

Not taking a side either way here, just stating the facts.

I don’t think anyone has been banned for actively going back to back cap or defend nodes. I’m willing to bet 100% of the people suspended were going to a tower, afking until it got destroyed, then waddling around until the BG was over.

Just by the nature of AV, if you do that every game, you’re not actively helping your team win.

Dude half these GM’s dont even know what AV stands for, let alone the meta.

That’s what appeals are for. But at the end of the day I’m sure they can see someone just standing there doing nothing

They dont have video of the gameplay. Its probably just numerical data they are going off. Suspect ban system is suspect.

People are defending these hypothetical situations. But I mean how many BGs have we done the last week were you go to Stonehearth/Iceblood and see multiple low levels just sitting there doing nothing

The only time I’ve seen someone lower than level 70 actually contributing was a DK sitting in Drek’s room gripping/slowing healers. Out of maybe 30ish AVs

Ive started a post about it, i haev the achievements and statistics to back my claim, and i still doubt it till get reversed. Had a previous form where a GM and council member were defending that players can report you for activity capping and defending as a bannable offense as long as your team thinks it’s waranted. Yet that how the game is made, then they add achievements and say you can do these as long as your team is okay with you doing them xD

GMs actively port to players before they ban/suspend someone. Actually is the easiest way for them to do it with the in-game interface.

Edit: It’s not like they have UI outside of the game, see reports and make a decision. They do go to the player. Might even whisper them

Ahh weird, I never received a message from a GM. I guess it’s easier to hit someone with a shovel than send them a text message.

Enough people in BGs reported you AFK to get a GM to investigate you. I’m willing to bet they watched you for a few minutes standing in the same place doing nothing.

I’m willing to bet in the 72 hours or whatever you did AV, you weren’t actively attempting to help win every single minute. AFK’d enough for people to report you. I really don’t think someone would report you either if you were near an enemy node.

If you think thats unreasonable to ask someone to actively play a game to not be suspended,… most of us actually play the game and try to win because we want more honor.

Theres no way they have that many GM’s working. Also, if they did - the GM’s should be issuing a warning instead of just banning unless the action was egregious - which I doubt is going on with the majority of these bans.

Banning for one month - which ends up resulting in the banned player missing the WOTLK launch is harsh and should only be for serious infractions, imo. Too many of these BG bans are suspect.

It makes me nervous because I am a back capper in AV, hehe.

If you’re actually playing you won’t get banned. Gotta keep in mind, no one is going to report you if you’re looking to get a group for a back cap, doing a lot of dmg or have done objectives.

Edit: Lets say it takes 30 different people reporting someone to be put on a GM list. Willing to bet it’s more, but just for the situations.

To get suspended you have to get all of those reports against you, then also be AFK when a GM investigates you. If you’re actually playing that’s not going to happen

While agree with you for the most part, DK’s and Boosted players get reported just for being who they are.

Hopefully relief will come for those unjustly banned.
