Offense: Use of Bots or Third-Party Automation Software
Blizzard Entertainment has suspended this World of Warcraft account after identifying the usage of bots or other cheat software.
I never have used any of this trash. I have never used anything other than addons you can download from curseforge like Deadlyboss Mods, Rarefinder, and World Quest Tracker. I sent a ticket in however, im just thrown back by how I could be banned for six months. Do false positives like this occur frequently?

Same thing here OP, i only even use 2 addons. Im really confused at the moment.
A friend of mine was wrongfully banned for this same reason a few minutes ago. I hope they fix this issue soon.
When it comes to things like this, Blizzard takes the integrity of their platform very, very seriously. Used to be they’d just ban the account completely, instead of a temporary suspension, but they found along the way that if there was hope for players to get their account and their nostalgia back, there was a drastically-reduced chance for them to keep tempting fate like that.
False positives do occur, but no, not often. The outcome of your appeal will determine that.

The only thing you can do is wait on your appeal. The forums aren’t a way to appeal an account action.
With that said, does anyone else access your account? Account sharing is against the Terms of Use and can result in account actions by itself. However, even if the other person was using bots or automation software, you’re still responsible for everything that happens on your account.

I just got hit with it as well.
Never used any 3rd party automation or botting.
I don’t even use addons like DeadlyBossMods or things that auto-cast or whatever because it feels like “cheating” to me.
Yeah same thing just happened to our guildie. No reason why he was banned seemly.
Guild mate just got knocked off mid boss pull. He isn’t the “botting” type.
I WILL REMEMBER YOU. but ya same here one of our dps gets banned, know him in irl and basically a raid logger got banned .
also that is my alt not main lol
When it comes to suspensions for using bots or automation, Blizzard doesn’t take action right away. They take the time to study what’s going on and actually confirm there’s some sort of automation going on.
The action that caused the suspension may have happened weeks or months ago. Just something to keep in mind

You weren’t the only one. I got hit by a 183 day ban tonight as well for, apparently, Botting? And I’ve never used any type of Bot on this or any other online game I’ve played. It’s crazy. If they uphold this I just lost the $30 I paid for a Game Time card last week.
Yeah except you miss the part where I’ve been playing legit on this account forever. I am not a saint and have gotten a 3 day break for cussing someone out before, but I don’t even know where to start when it comes to cheats.
It’s not just using bot software. 3rd party software used to create macros (such as on a keyboard or mouse) to automated spellcasting is also prohibited. Anything that can’t be done using the in-game macro feature is prohibited. That includes adding pauses and including more than one action per keypress.
The rule of thumb is: One keypress = one action.

I’ve been around the block a fair few times, and I’ve seen all manner of excuses cooked up from people that claimed they weren’t cheating, and eventually were found out, regardless.
As I said, you will need to wait on your appeal to see what happens next.

I mean, I generally have the same sentiment for bans; but most likely, this was an accidental mass ban wave.
Just got hit with a ban that will last until October 2019. Been playing WoW since 2006 and not once have I cheated, botted, or exploited the game in any manner. Never even had any suspension time since playing.

Don’t use it, unless it from Curseforge. Only thing I think of that is similar is maybe Hekili rotation addon that gives you a rotation to follow or Rarescanner.
I’d repeat what Terise said. Given the number in this thread alone, it sounds like a ban wave - which means each appeal will be reviewed separately. They are reviewed. There have been false positives in past ban waves, and if/when Blizzard makes that determination based on the evidence review on a specific account, they do lift the ban and clear the mark from the account.

Addons that use Blizzard’s API sandbox are generally allowed. If Blizzard doesn’t like what the addon is doing, they will just break it rather than take action against the user of the addon.
