So I just got the heirloom ring from the event, is there any way I can upgrade it?
Same way you upgrade any other Heirloom item - buy the upgrade tokens from the Heirloom vendors.

You get pieces of azeroth’s memories, so you complete each one for each region (northrend, Kalimdor, Eastern Kingdoms) and then you buy the ring for 25 residual memories.

Buy the item - Lifeless Stone Ring - from the event vendor, then farm 20 echoes from each zone while they’re active. Convert the 20 echoes into memories, then combine with the ring.

i got mine 2 days ago alts work well for this
take main threw the first 3
get alt and repeat
With the recent hotfix, I was able to get the ring in just a couple hours on one character last night. Since the boss is a guaranteed five Echoes and the boss can be respawned about 3 - 4 times within the hour time limit, it’s very easy to get now.
After you get the ring, Blizzard should make it so that the memory fragments used to make the ring no longer drop. Adds unnecessary clutter you have to delete.

There’s an heirloom ring? Why am I only hearing about it on friday afternoon…
How do I participate in this event everyone’s complaining about? I haven’t gotten any pester quests in-game to go somewhere for this.
When you logged in it should have given you a quest to go to silithus which chain leads you to Dalaran.
You don’t need the quest to do the event though.
Anywho, just go to legion dalaran and to the portal rooms

What’s the basis of the event?
There’s 4 places bosses can spawn, so camp an alt at each of them, get a drop from each of them, combine the 4 different drops, purchase heirloom ring with that combined item and a small amount of the arbitrary currency that drops(memories?)?
Not much different from the DF pre-patch event?
So to participate, I think you need to complete the harbinger questline and then I believe you get a quest taking you to the heart chamber in silithus. That takes you to legion dalaran.
After that you go to a couple different places in Azeroth that you can teleport to from Dal: searing gorge, Swamp of sorrows or dragonblight while they’re “active” and complete local world quests and fight the boss that spawns in.
ok, I haven’t done that on any chars. Do I only have to do it on 1 char, or on all chars I intend to participate in the event with?
It’s pretty similar NGL, though it does dovetail into the Warbank since you can aquire veteran tier gear for your alts to ensure they’re geared up.
Just the one time. It shouldn’t take that long to finish up.
