Yeah so it sounds like you are good with your money and play the game more than I do or at least invest your time into the market and professions. Not a knock on you… but I’ve never really been interested in that aspect of the game… I’ve always been a one character Andy. I usually go professions for PvE or PvP viability reasons.
Yes you can lol if you buy gold with cash and use said gold to get all the gear and get carried thru a raid you paid to win not a hard concept to follow but can see your a troll from one of the trolliest servers so will end this conversation.
You can use RMT for gold in game and use that gold in GDKPs/Boosts/Achievements/Titles/Gearing as a means for a pay2win scenario. GDKP supports RMT behavior as the people holding events only care about the gold and not where the gold came from. I’d consider the token system in Retail to be a pay2win scenario as it rewards token to gold conversions to pay2progress opportunities with said gold.
The gear you buy with gold is no better than the gear people get for free by playing the game.
If we use your dumbed down version of the phrase all MMos are pay 2 win…
If I took 2 rogue’s who had full phase 5 Bis and told you to point on the 1 who bought all of his gear you wouldn’t be able to, because buying the gear gives you no advantages over someone who got the same gear for free.
The gear you get for “Free” is by either time + effort + skill when it comes to progression or the actions of friends carrying you through content. Nothing is “Free”.
The phrase was coined from mobile games that actually had pay 2 win elements from a store.
The “win” part of pay 2 win meant you were “winning” over players who didn’t spend any money because in those games it was typically a competition.
That isn’t in WOW you can spend.all the money you want and you can’t “win” over someone who plays normally…your gear isn’t any better than someone who got that same gear for free.
PTW is used in gaming with the meaning “Pay to Win” to refer to games that allow players to purchase items or abilities (e.g., more powerful weapons, additional health points) that give them an advantage in the game, either over other players or NPCs (Non-Player Characters).
What Does Pay-to-Win Mean?
In the simplest terms, “pay-to-win” describes a game where paying real money gives players a significant advantage over those who don’t spend any money.
You can’t gain an advantage because everything you buy can be gotten for free.
The activities such as GDKP + Boosting is pay2win/pay2progress. The game itself isn’t pay2win unless you’re referring to retail tokens. Classic still has some semblance of no official pay2win options but, the boost itself is repulsive.
