Ban spy addon that shares enemy player locations

I lvl’d through Stranglethorn as alliance (paladin) on Light’s Hope at the peak of its popularity. That means no layering. It’s not that impossible just gotta find people to quest with.

If I was them I’d break this and the hearts of everyone using it.

I’m just saying…

This addon existed in WotLK and in Cata. Though I’m not sure if it existed in TBC or not.

A powerful argument that attests to what I’ve always known, that WotLK was awful.

Any addon that harms the overall realm fantasy, immersion, and/or breaks the rpg in the mmorpg should be scrutinized at minimum, and at maximum, eliminated imo.

If the add-on automates something you can simply do with pen and paper outside of the game its probably not that bad. Examples gatherer, or atlas.

If its something that automates community maneuvers, than that’s moving into breaking the rpg in the mmorpg, territory imo.

“A must”?? Have you used this Addon before on a PS? Is that why you feel it is a “must” have addon?

I bet you are real fun to wall bounce in Street Fighter 2… “Stop cheating!!!” But you keep dropping in those quarters… Stop telling other people how to play the game.

They have their own addon I think:

I’m not sure if it’s communicating local information to other users of the addon though like this addon is doing.

My problem with this addon is similar to my problem with the Gatherer addon sharing reagent spawn information globally. it’s like giving everyone mind vision, even if they’re not priests.

Local information should be kept local. if someone encounters an enemy faction member, let them announce it in the local pvp channel or world pvp channel or guild chat themselves. I’m fine with the addon presenting the local information for the user in question, just not automating the propagation of the info.

It must be exporting something out of the game if it’s able to communicate cross-faction. I wouldn’t use this mod.

I don’t even trust that site.

Isn’t using radar in the same zone enough of a violation for you?
You need it to work globally for it to be a red line?

This makes everyone a hunter.

Like many posters, I too missed the point and don’t understand addons, both in their function and what was or wasn’t available during Vanilla :avocado:

Add-ons have always been a mixed bag… and often a Catch-22.

There are tons of them that are simple conveniences (and a lot of Classic fans wage war on anything convenient) or they might be ways or organizing what you already have access to in the game… and there are tons of them that completely alter how you play (DBM, dps meters, etc.).

Vanilla had plenty of them… and there are quite a few classic “purists” who think they should be eliminated from Classic (despite the fact that they were there). So you can expect to see an ever-raging war between both camps, for or against their existence in Classic.

Yea—naturally the bar would addons that didn’t (or rather, couldn’t) exist in Vanilla—but the bar has shifted elsewhere. We can’t account for what players in Vanilla could have done, but either didn’t figure out or what wasn’t culturally the norm.

Does “pvp scanner” still work for classic. That needs to go as well.
