I say this as someone who has hosted multiple GDKP runs since the beginning of classic all the way through WOTLK. GDKPs are terrible for the game, create incentives for massive botting and RMT and should be removed. When GDKPs exist, you are required to do them to compete.
That being said if blizz doesn’t ban GDKPs. I’ll be hosting them again, because why would I farm when I can spend 4 hours a week running GDKPs, taking host cuts and making the equivalent of over a year in subs with WoW tokens.
Seriously, the RMT and botting is so insane, I can get gold cap from 1 good GDKP run. Remove GDKPs.
Otherwise, see you all in our weekly hosted GDKP where all the buyers definitely, for sure, farmed 100k gold in the first month of launch totally legit.
If blizzard releases a blue post saying GDKPs are against TOS in SoD and then bans anyone who runs or engages with them for a week, it will be fixed overnight.
His point, I think, is why would he bother when he can just exploit the player base and a broken game for massive profit. If Blizzard doesn’t care, why should he?
Ugh, I don’t even blame you, but it’s outrageous that this has become so accepted. People even accept GDKP runs where you can only join as a spender and get no cut at the end at all.
Aw it’s cute that you actually believe that. Botting is against the ToS and that doesn’t stop Classic from being plagued with them. Further recruiting for GDKP can be easily recruited for using third party apps.
The only way to enforce a ban on GDKP would be to use personal loot or Group loot without loot sharing so people physically couldn’t bid on loot.
You seem to be asking for Blizzard to ban GDKPs, but if you legitimately feel that non-GDKP raids offer better loot distribution systems, then why not use them and compete? Also, what handicap are you referring to?
I’m of the opinion that GDKPs are popular because they offer a loot distribution system that incentivizes all participation, and gives agency to all involved.
Botting and RMT are very unlikely to go away, and keep or removing GDKP as a loot distribution system will not change that. Perhaps you could expand upon what it is you hope to result in the banning of GDKPs?
Pretty easy to see if people are trading out gold to everyone after a raid. It’s not hard to enforce at all. Third party apps won’t solve that issue and with the ban risk it will push most players far away from them making it a non-issue.
The only reason gold buying even got as bad as it is, is because almost nobody is banned for it. I know people that bought over 2 million gold during tbc, never even a warning. WOTLK those people easily bought 10 million. They show up to our GDKPs every week with more gold.
It’s wild to see how many people have fully accepted GDKPs as some kind of inevitability when it’s actually quite easy to get rid of them.
I guess it’s more that you’re arguing for the removal of an incredibly good loot system that promotes and incentives participation just because people buy gold. People aren’t going to stop buying gold if GDKPs are banned, and GDKPs aren’t going to stop if they come up with better ways to enforce anti-RMT/Botting rules.
So, what exactly is it you’re hoping for with the removal of GDKPs? A generally worse experience for PuG raiders, among other things…?
What a nonsensical sentiment. I am pro-GDKPs. I am not making any claims that people do not buy gold and then use that gold in GDKPs - of course that happens. However, removal of GDKPs is not going to prevent people from buying gold, and complete removal of gold buying is not going to prevent GDKP from being a good loot distribution system.
Go ahead. I literally asked for clarification, and all you can do is hand-wave and try to make some false narrative about “feigned innocence.” - why not actually have a conversation?
