Or finding out at last second server "owner "who used paid Vent didnt make the payment and had to jump to another random members Vent

flagged trolling

Isn’t this the same guy that made that one fabricated story that people took the bait for?

You guys are really just making all their bait threads popular and giving them attention. :joy:

I was invited to a discord once. On the surface it seemed a little right wing themed (flags all over the place), but once I heard people talking it was straight up racism. My friend (who I’ve come to realize over the years is a dubious character and/or picks his other friends VERY poorly) invited me. I got out of there quick.

Another time I was watching a live stream where people were telling ghost stories, so I told one from my own experience, and the chat blew up with “this guy’s definitely full of it!” Why would I lie, and especially why are you listening to freakin paranormal stuff if you’re going to call bs on it? Like, go do something else.

So I don’t like discord. In fact I’m even less likely to talk to people in that way than I am online. I have never felt comfortable interfacing that way with strangers (maybe a few bad experiences cemented that), it’s literally all the problems I have with the typing community online moreso.

The internet be a garbage fire and if I judged humanity by how it acts online I’d think we were the worst species on earth. At least animals accept their own species at face value.

-Signed, anti-social gamer in all respects.

This is the same guy who made a thread asking what GDKP is in classic, and a thread claiming to be the owner of a large GDKP organization in TBC within 2 days of each other.

id love all mods and things like discord ventrillo and teamspeak and all non build ingame stuff banned be nice and fun to see peoples reaction

I like discord so no for me

I ran a TS/mIRC stack for years back in the day lol.

People want people to use in game more…in game needs to get better.

3rd party is liked for added features and functionality.

there is the wow guild chat. its ALL chat. Some guy talking about pineapple on pizza, some girl talking about whatever. And there is 5 other convos. it all there. its…all over.

3rd party? there is the general chat channel. there is the we are on serious business channel. there is the I am on but not play paying tonight channel.

that last one…why it was a god send in eve. there is where you’d send out “pings”. SOmeting important comes up you’d “ping” the comm channels.

I am playing another game X. However…you can reach me in this channel since on comms. If the crew is fun enough to run with you don’t hide from them lol. You are social with them even when not in the game. something comes up worthy of my time…I can log in.

And people are still taking the obvious baits and making his threads extremely popular. :joy:

OP ITT: “Get out of Vent or I’ll have you bent!”

While this is true to some extent, it’s for good reason.

People do not spend all of their time on WoW.
People play other games. People leave their homes (and have mobile phones).

Discord allows in-game communities to communicate even when they’re not able to be online at the same time. This is a good thing.

It also leans into playing other games or generally just spending time with your in-game friends in contexts other than WoW. Which is again, a good thing. It’s good to have actual friends and not just “WoW friends”.

Yes, it’s a bit sad that it means less active in-game gchats in some cases. But it’s worth it.

So is gchat – in that if your guild members aren’t reporting each other, Blizzard will literally never see it. And I doubt most guild members are reporting each other.

I’d start listing websites and forums but that’d probably be a bad idea. Discord is huge so you’re seeing it more, but it has ALWAYS been absolute cake to find cross-server RMT.

OP needs to post a ban google thread. back in the day you could ask jeeves (more relevant back in the day) too…and he’d find them too.

it finds some places that have been in business for years.

Yes ban and go back to vent or team speak or another less quality service

Explain how Blizzard knows to ban people for using Discord.

And what about Skype? Google Meet? Slack? Vent? Teamspeak? Face Time?

This is an impossible ask.

I have a friend who has severe social anxiety and depression. Yet when he plays games he’s in Discord laughing loudly, and talking animatedly with many friends.

I would fear so much for him if he didn’t have Discord. Regardless of what game he’s playing he’s able to make social connections.

This is an impressively-bad take. Well-played.

rmt existed long before discord dude

most of the people who blanket blame entire communities typically tend to have a ton of issues with other players due to their own personality flaws js

if you find yourself saying “the community x” it’s typically because YOU are hard to get along with
