Ban Culture of 2024/2025

Ban everyone, I say. Ban everyone from everything. The internet was a huge mistake.

He’s into something

You misunderstand. It’s the disagreement with an idea – a sacred cow – that gets one canceled. You can have manners but still disagree – but it doesn’t matter. The disagreement itself is seen as an infraction. People who don’t make the distinction are part of the problem. I think it’s wishful thinking to assume others don’t want to put up with it either. Sometimes the emperor isn’t wearing any clothes at all.

What idea are you disagreeing with?

Pineapple on pizza?
Wearing hats indoors?

Can’t say I’ve seen anyone banned over disagreeing with stuff like that

launching code ultra ban hammer.

I think the internet was a great idea. Making it easy to access and get on was the mistake. 90s and 2000s internet was fantastic, but it was expensive both money wise and expertise wise to access.

So if you encountered someone online they had made it past those filters. Now the Internet is just a snapshot of civilization at a whole, and anyone who has had to commute to work much at all, knows that the “average” is shockingly dumb.

Blizzard disagreed with my opinion on Sweet Baby, Inc. And, no, it wasn’t about race or women.

The game is not your platform to discuss politics, philosophy, government, etc. If you want to bring up divisive real word things there are entire websites dedicated to that where you can discuss those things. There are also public street corners where you have no fear of Govt arrest because you have the right to speak out against your government/leaders (in the US anyway).

Blizzard, and most players, don’t want those arguments and the disruption they cause, in game. Trolling/baiting/disrupting chat is against the rules.

You are free to have those conversations, somewhere else.

Oh yes, it was given what you just brought up. That discussion has no place on the forums, or in game. I get it, you don’t want diversity consultants to exist. Vote with your wallet and don’t buy games that use them then. It all comes down to sales - always has - always will.

This is not the place to debate that whole topic.

Would love to see where they said that. Also, if you’re posting, you were not banned. Only accounts with active game time get to post here

It sounds like you disagree with the opinion, feel threatened by the fact that I disagree with it, etc. So it suits you to say that. Of course, players discuss politics 24/7 in Trade and you don’t have a problem with it, and neither apparently does Blizzard.

I don’t care for sweet baby inc

Their involvement in a product will not encourage me to buy it or anything

Guess Blizzard will ban me now?

Or did you mean to disagree in a different way

I mean, that’s really shallow. It sounds like you’re trying to bait me lol.

It’s my opinion, I don’t care about them

Seeing them listed as part of a project doesn’t make the project look more appealing to me

Am I banned yet?

Yes, people do and they get reported for it. Then they come to the forums crying that they got muh freeze peach (that they don’t have on private property) taken away for picking fights and disrupting the game chat.

Nobody is offended or “threatened”. You just are mad you can’t use other people’s private property to pitch your agenda and start arguments.

Again, vote with your wallet.

I was silenced. IMO, it’s a distinction without difference in this context.

Careful…you might end up wiht another imaginary ban!!! Love that you didn’t even get banned yet your whole argument is that people are banned for an opinion.

It is a VERY big difference. One is a game penalty that removes social interactions for a time period for violations of the chat rules. You can still log in and play.

A suspension is your next penalty, and that removes you from the game totally for at least a week. Forum suspensions get longer too, and remove you from the forums totally for that time period.

A BAN means they permanently closed your license. Which, obviously, they did not do.

That’s harsh. I never started an argument. I brought up a news article in a discussion. Not an argument. A discussion, and the article was from the BBC of al places. My bad, I should have made a private group.

I will certainly be voting with my wallet. Thank you Mirasol and thank you Perl (for your very mature taunting) for representing the game so well that a player decides to spend their money elsewhere.

I’m still wondering when I’m getting banned for disagreeing with blizz, apparently

Maybe it’s cuz I just said my opinion on the subject instead of going on a rant filled with personal attacks, the part of the “disagreement” the “innocent” people always forget to mention
