I know there’s way more than just 10 verses that are absolutely insanely offensive, but I figured this would be an easy way to demonstrate why preaching the bible shouldn’t be done in public. Not to mention that most “public preachers” do so in places where they aren’t wanted, what they say is offensive, and they do it to inflict harm to guilt people to donate to churches.
Brainwashing in short.
No, it isn’t.
This is the “marketplace of free ideas” - you want to sell something crude, offensive, and insulting? People have all the right in the world to tell you to leave and if you get offended by no one wanting to listen to you, get a better message.
Another idea would be to adhere to the bible’s own words as well:
When even the book the preacher was preaching out of was telling said preacher to shut it, maybe the best thing to do would be to do that.
Quit pretending to be a victim just because no one cares what you, or some other bigot, has to say.
I’ve gotten into trouble on the forums a couple of times, and each time I did I was given a brief vacation from the forums. I’m also honest enough to admit that I had earned those forum vacations. I didn’t dispute them, I don’t run around pretending I was a poor innocent person getting “cancelled”, I accepted the consequences of my actions and didn’t repeat the actions that led to getting temporary forum mutes.
“It isn’t enough that I cannot see them, they must not be allowed to exist at all”
We’re dealing with legitimate power trippers these days, I’ve heard people wishing that they could make everyone they disagree with “just explode” and had it taken as totally normal behavior to envision the deaths of others rather than the madness it is.
I have received one week’s suspension back during Wrath of the Lich King. Back then I was a kid who just had an item ninja’d from me and I went to the guy’s server and started berating them in the trade chat. Safe to say, I earned that suspension.
Want to know what happened?
I got better, because I realized what I did wasn’t acceptable.
This is the part that everyone who keeps going “can’t say that”, “but X was reported”, or the ever growing number of people who proclaim cancel culture, censorship, or any of the other nonsense.
If a person screws up, unless it is something extremely egregious, you learn from that and get better! I don’t think I will ever understand why this portion is lost upon folks who keep proclaiming the nonsense who complain about the rules.
It is a game, if one doesn’t like the rules then… leave?
So yeah, even to those who screw up and get in trouble - the correct thing should be “so how are you going to improve yourself so it doesn’t happen again?”
Folks not understanding that will always be a mystery to me.
So if that’s the case then we can ban anyone we don’t want because they offend. So let me give you a recent example in a city near me this year they had Pride parades where they had people walking down the street practically nude. Many were protesting about the lewd conduct yet it wasn’t stopped nobody was arrested many didn’t want it but it doesn’t change the fact of the double standard. Now as to not offend I am just using this as an example.
No, folks aren’t “nude” at Pride events. Potentially at After Dark events, but guess what if you are at an “After Dark” event, that’s on your head. Grow the hell up.
I never said you were initially playing victim. You got insulted because you insulted others. Is it right? Nope. Never said it was. Was there a reason they did it? Yep.
Breaking it down for better understanding and conversation isn’t “tearing it apart.”
You still seem to want to pull out the drama and victimization.
And I asked the following:
These are things I asked, but then you got offended and never answered.
People don’t get sanctioned in game for having a difference in opinion. So you’ll have to try again with that one.
Where did I get offended? I had a plethora of people quoting me and calling me out for this or that sorry I didn’t see this. Just because I didnt answer dont assume anything.
It is, but as I said, I’m not saying you are wrong or lying about your experience.
I’m more focused on people who fallaciously say if you follow the rules, you’ll be fine. Sure, it may help you as being a habitual rule breaker just paints a target on you, but it’s not some security blanket.
Shady not reading your entire post is somehow everything in this thread? Interesting.
It’s definitely an example of jumping to conclusions and not reading. I agree. He absolutely cherry picked that to be dramatic— and wrong, had he actually read everything you said.
I don’t feel it’s indicative of everyone, though.
I also don’t believe that’s an example of soft. Just an example of looking dumb for not reading and making crap up.
So you are saying that the Government did not arrest people in a public place who had proper permits and were not breaking the law? That is exactly what free speech is. Both the people holding the parade and those protesting the parade have the right to free speech within the limits of the law. They usually need parade permits, protest permits, have limits on which streets or times, and can’t engage in violence. The clothing limits are also defined by law.
You are comparing an example of the Govt not limiting free speech to rules you accepted on private property. Rules that said this is not the place to go on insult tirades, express opinions that are sexist, racist, etc. You have the right to those opinions. You just don’t have the right to express them on private property without consequences - those consequences being that you are asked to leave.
