Im sure they thought I was a bot, lol.
I had two games running. One monitor had my AH character literally running cancel scans all day long while I was farming on the other monitor.
I made a video of it and posted it somewhere…youtube maybe.
it was about how the AH mount doesnt really give any advantage if I can play the game on one monitor while cancel scanning all day.
Use an Engineer and do your AHing in the Mists temples because you literally can just turn around and the mailbox is right there.
With alliance, you dont even have to turn around. Just sit dead middle of the AH bot and the mailbox so you can see them both, lol.
I use auctionator now. I rarely bother with scanning. Its just got that shopping thing when youre crafting that is sooo cool. And selling is less annoying since if you have a bunch of gear it’ll only list ones you CAN sell instead of having to pick thru it all.
Like what?
There’s a good reason for allowing cancelling. People make mistakes all the time.
They just need to limit stuff like oegendaries to 5 per account listed (of the same one) and make cancelling cost 5% of the buyout price.
If people accidently list something super cheap, that’s OK, it’s 5% of the buyout so they will have NP cancelling. If they list it super expensive by accident, then they let it time out and relist it.
That would solve most of the cancel scanning issues on the playerbase without having any impact on the actual players.
COULD someone then have 100 accounts so they can list constantly without the fee. Sure, it’s possible, but it would be an obscene gold drain to maintain that… so maybe they do it for a little while then stop.
Its naturally punishing without being overly intrusive to everybody else.
I am very aware of the need for cancelling.
I’m just spitballing things.
Basically people are mad about not being 100% successful in financial kombat and are blaming addons and canceling and undercutting rather than learn to play financial kombat.
Cancelling and running to your mailbox then relisting 100 items every 30 seconds is hardly “combat” but sure. There’s people who enjoy locking everybody out of a market.
A lot of them are bots.
“Autoclickers” aren’t the fault of TSM.
Your logic is to ban an addon because people bot with it. So when TSM gets banned, people will use “autoclickers” on the default UI. Do we ban the default UI too?
Where do you think the 3rd party site gets it’s data?
Again I am not saying they should, because one of the best things about this game is its customization via addons, but they absolutely can control what information is available via their api
so basically every addon then? no thanks
Would it be effective to force cancelled items to wait out the duration of time the item was set for for return of the item? So when the bots cancel, your item would stay listed and bot would have to wait 24-48 hours before being able to undercut the market again?
I think you could even setup thresholds, you get one or two oopsies per day, anything above that takes either a gold penalty or a time penalty. You could even scale this, first one is free, second costs x, third costs a 2x, fourth costs 3x.
Not sure why people think it’s Bots or Don’t even know what TSM is or does. Bunch of old AH Fudds who don’t know how the LIFO system system works.
Bots are bannable. But they are not banned. There is no effort made to remove 24/7 “players” from the game.
My level 6 leatherworker on Tich made a very low level piece that has no demand or intrinsic value and took it to the auction house at 4 am, where there were 20 listed for 10k. She listed it for 1 gold, basically more than it was worth. Within minutes the prices on the AH had undercut me.
If the AH is working as intended, the intent is to funnel massive profits to a small number of players while making it impossible for the sort of average player who used to make enough gold prior to the change to do that anymore.
Gee, looks like they’ll have to buy tokens. Gee, looks like the full-time wheeler dealers will have to use their gold to buy gametime, which funnels it into tokens that lots of people wouldn’t need if the AH wasn’t useless for people who play the game rather than babysitting the AH on multiple realms to monitor their bots and cancelscan.
Half those 10k white leatherworking items had bids on them. Fake bids, because the items were of no use to anyone but a level 1. Exploiters bid on their own items to make it appear that there is lots of demand at that price.
I’m sure Blizzard will manage to design the “work order” system so it can be exploited by the same people who run bots and support botting now.
If they wanted the AH to be useful to players, they would have put in a last in last out system. And they should remove the ability to put fake scam bids on your own merchandise by making it impossible to cancel after there is a bid.
WoW has a bot problem, it always will. But any auction house “bot” IS BANNED. So is weed in my state, but that doesn’t’ stop people from doing it. All of those accounts should be banned.
Hope I wasn’t misunderstood, Bliz please don’t take my addons away
Yes, but there has to be GM’s doing this not something like Warden. Warden doesn’t exist anymore like it used to and that is mainly due to privacy concerns with knowingly allowing a ring0 rk to run on you computer has a lot of reason for concern.
I agree, its cat and mouse, however I don’t necessarily think it’s complicated. In another forum someone had a super simple solution of having 4-5 CS GM’s per server actively reviewing player behavior and investigating tickets. It really doesn’t take a long time to determine if its a bot or not. Create a system for players to earn small rewards based on the quality of reports (bugs, glitches, bots, cheating, etc) and use this as a method for filtering out spammed/random reports.
Another option would be to create some sort of logger to where when a player puts in a ticket, that account gets unknowingly logged for x amount of logs and then that log is fed into an algorithm to determine probability of being a bot. I think if they go with some automated route, however, they need to be more open to appeals in case it gets it wrong.
GMs need to be active in servers again.
Some people just don’t like to talk, dont watch chat, no sound on, high as a kite gathering herbs, etc.
Edit: added clarification
Inability to understand a tool’s use and instead shunning it.
Like a caveman encountering fire.
lmao.
This is the coalition to ban coalitions! Hank Williams Jr
Nah, that still falls under the, “charge for services related to the add-on” clause. If Blizzard wanted to kill TSM, they could for this exact reason, rather than the “because I said so” angle they can kill any addon at any time for.
The fact that they haven’t, and haven’t for this long, however, makes it basically unthinkable.
Or that version of the Addon ToS is out of date, I’unno.
Pretending there isn’t a bunch of bots on most servers is either disengenuous or its naive.
so which is it? u want to remove add-ons or what? maybe if u had more than 1 monitor, u wouldn’t need to alt-tab?
do people still alt-tab?
No, that is not what I am saying at all.
Maybe a different phrasing would be helpful:
Any performance enhancing addon should be banned.
So something like Bagnon should be allowed while something like Deadly Boss Mods would not.
