Ban add-ons. Trade Skill master, Auction bots, Auction Tools

The big thing that annoys me about the AH is items that have stupidly high selling prices on them. I have my TSM set up so I can do a Post scan and then Alt-scroll down to list. But I have to keep stopping to skip over some cheap item which is on the AH for 350,000g. If its purpose is to scam, that is a really annoying sale tactic and whoever is doing it can take my cute gnomish foot and shove it up their left nostril. Sideways. :rage:

The only reason I could see TSM getting axed is because they offer a premium for-sale service, which afaik, is against the ToS.

Then again, TSM premium has been a thing for some time, the link in question is really old, so that “afaik” might be inaccurate.

TSM Premium offers you nothing special inside the game where the addon itself lives.

This thread is nothing short of “mail me gold when i login!” drivel.

A lot of people are entirely incapable of playing without addons. They would straight up quit and not come back if Blizzard got rid of addons.

If you dont like them then just dont use them. No need to make other people play to your style just because you dont like something.

The addon is free OP. The premium version is just benefits outside of the game

Look, if you don’t know how addons work, just say that, ok?

Once again, we’re targetting the wrong thing here.

The main problem is the fact people can just cancel and relist things willy nilly. You want to nuke them? Make them commit to their listing by flagging items and not allowing them to be listed more than once in a 24/48 hour period (or whatever the listing time was), limiting an account to X number of cancelled auctions per day and not allowing an auction to be cancelled when up for more than 2 minutes, and change things to first in, first out along with minimum cuts to list something cheaper than the going rate…say 5-10% of the currently listed item/price meaning no more stupid copper/silver reductions.

Oh and if you do put a bid price on an item, once someone bids, you can’t cancel it or even bid it on it from your own account.

Tackling combat addons is much more tricky since the devs openly rely on the addons existing and doing the lion share of the mental work for the player. DBM itself is toeing the link as is and Weak Auras absolutely has gone beyond absurd and should be banned.

But so too does the devs need to adopt a standard mechanical telegraphing arrangement like FFXIV does and the devs should be the ones responsible for relaying and displaying the concise data streams the player is expected to see and act upon…everything about this game from your spec to the raid encounter has so many interwoven pieces that is takes cheater addons like WA to parse it and give you the flashy lights and beeps and boops turning you into a glorified monkey responding to stimuli instead of an informed and engaged player making snap skill judgments without a crutch addon doing most of the work for you. Fights have been allowed to get so complex and specs and items so convonluted because addons exist to handle it…it’s just a mutually beneficial arms race between devs and addon authors

Can’t beat em, Join em

To be perfectly honest I know that myself, and a lot of players, choose to not interact with the
economy of WoW because there’s almost certain to be a guy cancel scanning with a program that clearly mimics keystrokes that will simply undercut me, automatically.

I think that they placed limits that only let your auction bot cancel scan 50 items per second? Is that right? ONLY 50 per second?

Given that, why would I?
It certainly doesn’t sound fun.

Some people will say “but I only play the game for the economy! I need this to enjoy the game!” and to the three or four of you per server I say that your enjoyment comes at the expense of many.

It’s even worse on smaller servers like mine, which is just 6 failed servers linked together. If you get an item and it’s worth about 200k on the AH, you can expect to sell it for something like 40k… maybe… after a few weeks of constant reposting.

WoW’s economy needs a major overhaul IMO.

Clearly Blizzard needs to remove the ability to cancel stuff on the AH and change the way it works to FIFO. Also to ban undercutting.

They can also ban people who act like that one person at the HOA meeting. Y’all know the one. The one who can’t stay in her own lane.

Sit here, lets talk, where did the addon touch you

They do need to break TSM scripts like the operations/groups/Sniping, along with the mousehweel scroll macro to spam post since TSM also auto-sets price as lowest on AH. People will post hundreds, thousands of auctions as a result of it instead of right clicking each item, setting a price, then clicking post.

The sniping function is also something that encourages people to sit at the AH on multiple accounts to just continuously run the snipe scans to instantly buy low priced stuff instead of manually looking for low prices for certain items.

Another thing to fix, is the people listing stuff for VERY clearly scam prices but with an incredibly low bid so it always shows up first but they will cancel the auction before it expires.

Further, yeah the bots tend to use said TSM scripts. Just like how bots in OSRS tend to use an already made third party client that’s allowed for such things too.

But, stop asking for blanket ‘ban on add-ons’ just tell Blizzard to break an addons certain functions.

Your mistake is assuming your overpriced good is worth 200k to begin with. I’m in a constant bidding/cancel war for a 291 leggo on my Horde alt. I refuse to pay the already insane buyout prices and there is 1 seller who places high buyout but fairly low bids (about half his buyout) just to cancel them and relist.

I will literally go the rest of this expansion with the 262 I have on then pay anything more than 60k or so and even that is outrageous. Flasks too are constantly over 1k apiece when, at this rate, they should be lucky to even see more than 200G.

Work orders, I suspect, are going to be a godsend for people like me in DF. Especially if they expand it out to the region and let crafters from all corners compete with each other to fulfill orders.

I’m not meaning legendaries, I’m sorry if I was unspecific. I’m talking about items like the Mythic Wakening Horror Spaulders coming up for something like 140k on Undermine Journal and not being able to move them for 15k… for months.

Not because of competition, it was almost always the only one listed, but because there are no buyers interested with that small of a player count on Nathrezim/Crushridge/Anubarak/Etc/Etc megaserver.

Okay, how is banning TSM going to help with that

can you be sure though? really?

This is the part that the op fails to realize. despite wanting to blame bots or addons. the truth of the matter is, they are losing to someone whos willing to sit there longer than them.

This. I get the usual stealth dms where some salty person tries to open up a one word liner, where I can tell they’re reporting me simply because I’m undercutting them.

Wanna know something? I sit at ah all day and don’t use TSM at all. In fact, I intentionally bait the bot users who try to quick flip scalp, by pricing cheaply. I sell 100x more volume on many items than nominal, and it makes up for said lower margin.

It’s kind of ironic though, because the people who stealth open dms to obtain a report option are one I can tell are botting themselves. Literally mad because their own bot ops are having a wrench thrown into the works and being farmed off of.

As an example:
A few days ago I priced Agil Potions with like 4g profit per sale. Some “quick flipper” started using multiple toons to buy off me, and I kept raising the price slowly to bait more. Within half a day said quick flipper had a dozen toons listing 15k copies of agil pots and then spam opening dms harassing.

That said, TSM needs to go. Too many people are using autoclickers to press TSM buttons for them. Lightzero knows what I’m talking about. I sit at booty bay all day on one of my toons putting out a cushion toy whenever the AH NPC is dead, and the kids with autoclickers can’t help themselves with clicking it and staying bugged for hours.

One guy in particular in booty bay even flexes he isn’t a bot because he hasn’t been banned yet, despite being bugged by the cushion tricks an endless amount of times AND being “bricked” moved out of ah npc range or spun around, where he/she clicks toons and pets all day instead of reopening the ah npc. Emphasis on said person clicking toons/pets for hours doing jack after being bugged with a toy.

Nah. The AH Botters already use multiple toons to evade rate limits.

Wanna actually kill the bots?
Present a captcha challenge whenever bot-like behavior is detected.
Essentially a hidden trust factor metric that the AH interface uses, and if it falls below a certain score, start issuing captchas.

I don’t agree about banning all AH addons. The default AH UI is garbage even after its latest revamp. But I do agree that on occasion, one addon will rise to the point of becoming hazardous to the game. TSM is one such addon. Also blizz should make the STV AH a free for all pvp area. The bots would just move to Outland probably, but at least they’ll be slightly less effective.
