Balancing the Vote-Kick Penalty: A Call for Change

It is what it is, I hate it because I have been on the bs side if getting kicked but the one that really grinds my gears is when you dc and get the BS buff, that’s my problem.

Bless you.

The sad part is the anonymity of the internet allows people to regress to their basest and most childish behaviors because of a lack of real accountability and punishment for bad behavior.

“People abusing vote kick” is vastly overblown on the forums, as the people who behave poorly always claim they were kicked for no reason. It takes a lot to get players to stop autopiloting and pay attention to what’s going on in the group.

We don’t need a balance for Vote Kick. The balance is having to vote. You aren’t being unjustly targeted, you just have a persecution complex.

Don’t you have alts or professions? 30 minutes twice a year is not a big deal to me. I just go to an alt, or world quests. I only recall being kicked one time in 20 years on this toon. My healers have been kicked a few times after wipes. And it was frustrating, but not that big of a deal.

how are you people getting kicked all the time? im a crappy tank and while i hardly every group up (pretty just for events and the occasional quest) i have never been kicked in probably a few hundred dungeons. and even when healers were lacking or dps was being mass pulling knuckleheads, i never saw them kicked either. hell, i even wiped an entire raid pulling the boss too early during one of those brd timewalk things for the anniversary and, while i was deservedly called an idiot, no one suggested booting me.

frankly, im kinda suspicious these stories of people being kicked for no reason might be either fabricated, or omitting key details showing the ‘victims’ were maybe not so innocent.

Agree. In TWW i have only witnessed 1 kick so far, after maybe 200 randoms. The one kick was after 4 wipes. We kicked the DPS player with the highest DPS because he kept pulling mobs.

Im sure he felt it was not justified, having highest DPS and all.

It’s working as intended. I can tell you right now, I’m not the most reserved person in chat. I legit NEVER get kicked. I say stupid things, I chain pull for the tank, sometimes I practically AFK on follow while I eat and toss out minimal healing. I’ve been lazy and hardcore. I’ve played alts upon alts. NEVER GET KICKED.

Ya’ll are twisted, and 100% you’re doing something wrong if you are getting kicked that much.

I’m convinced they’re not. It’s just the hot new trolling topic.

Yes please! Or consider not opening the vote for X time the instance has been running.

I recently came back and joined a simple dungeon on my healer. Upon joining the group i noticed my raid frames were off, so I asked in instance chat for a brief chance to fix that so I could heal folks. Less than 30seconds later i was booted from the group for “being inactive”. I tried to re-Q but had a 30minute penalty.

What a fun way to come back to the game (or deterrent not to). This rule is trash and people abuse it for their own impatience, putting a penalty on others for no reason that they deserved.

This kick because the kicker is a jerk needs to end or at least remove the BS penalty. Almost like you want your player base to get pissed off and cancel their accounts

The best solution is to revert this dumb change they made because people were farming heroic dungeons for trinkets that dropped off the first boss, and make it so loot drops at the end of the dungeons like it does in m+.

I have played since Vanilla, and seen a lot of changes in the game.

Vote kick gets abused, but it is needed, for sure.

As far as penalties… I don’t know.

I remember my niece was playing a dungeon and was horrible. I had her there, with the chat off, and she was running around whacking stuff… and she got vote kicked. She was kind of sad.

But I queued her up again and she was able to play.

If there was a penalty back then, she would have been more sad.

So, idk. I think about my sad niece, even if she deserved to be kicked. At least she was able to re-queue and go about her play.

We do have follower dungeons now that she would enjoy. I took my young daughter before and commented that she is still learning and they were fine with it. I also see why it’s not fair to expect to be carried.

Oh yeah , follower dungeons sound awesome for the kiddos.

As an uncle who baby sat nephews and nieces, they would beg me to play WoW, probably more so because they knew I liked it.

I would put them in dungeons with the chat off, and they would have a ball. But their team mates probably were not so happy.

If they had those follower dungeons back then, that would have solved that.

This is not a blizzard issue. This is a community isse and us need to learn how to play nicely with each other. If one does not like pugs, simple dont play with them.

The penalty for leaving or getting kicked should ramp up to deter chronic bad behavior, without overly penalizing the occasional disconnect or other infrequent issues. Penalty only ramps down from completing queued content. Account-wide.

There should also be some minor ramping penalty for the kickers in LFD to discourage frivolous kicks.

Let me ignore anyone who kicks me.
