To make up for the Alliance having territory in the dragon isles.
Night elves - when they move in with the new Green dragon Aspect and their flight.

Again, this is just an assumption people have. What evidence is there that we will see that tree again even by the end of this expansion? Iâm not saying itâs impossible, maybe theyâll pull some âitâs timey wimey magic in the emerald dreamâ and an entire, liveable world tree like Teldrassil will grow in the next year and some change we have left on the dragon isles. But what else do we have other than assumptions?
But that seed was planted in the emerald dream. We donât know where it will pop up, or if weâll even see it again in this expansion.
You have the connection of night elves with the dragonflight and the suggestion of an on going relationship.
That isnât really new either though. Ysera blessed Teldrassil, didnât she? After Malfurion and Tyrandeâs wedding? Theyâve always been best buds, thereâs a reason why pretty much every green dragon takes the form of a night elf. That doesnât mean that the world tree will be on the dragon isles though.
I think so far itâs just speculation, with that convenient circular spot off the plains that Tyrandeâs staring at after the questline.
I sped through that questline so I donât know for certain, but I thought the seed being in the dream was just a temporary measure to keep it safe.
Assuming they ever did give the centaurs to the Horde they would probably just give some break away clan from Kalimdor proper. For all intent and purposes, I suspect Blizzard wants the people of the Dragon Isles to remain neutral.
Iâd also point out, lorewise we do know at least one centaur has joined the Horde.
Iâm cool with the Centaur joining the Horde in a sense, but one thing I was hoping wouldnât happen is either faction making settlements on the Dragon Isles. We just got done a war and it feels land grabby to be making colonies after promising the expedition wouldnât be a military maneuver. The only way you get away with this maybe is if current occupants of said Isles join either faction, aka Gnolls, Centaur, Furbolgs, Tuskarr, etc.
The Tauren shouldnât be making a permanent settlement on the Dragon Isles. Iâd hoped theyâd be wiser than to make a near defenseless town in the middle of a war zone between Centaur clans, whom theyâre traumatized about, just because a wild god supposedly told them to. In a world where weâre constantly finding out that all of our religions and myths are lies and that the Wild Gods/Loa, Dragons, Titans, and Death arenât all theyâre cracked up to be. It just seems annoyingly ignorant for them to ignore everything weâve learned and ignore logic to put themselves in danger and make their faction look bad because of tradition or misguided faith.
And the Night Elves shouldnât grow their new tree off the coast of the Ohnâaran Plains either. The Night Elves still have most of Northern Kalimdor and Valâsharah to grow a tree, it makes no sense to grow it on the Dragon Isles. And similar to the Tauren, it just makes no sense to do this so far away from their other territories, this Tauren village and Night Elf tree would be in a far flung corner of the world between Silvermoon and Howling Fjord.
My vote is for Valâsharah, itâs already a heavily Alliance zone that they just chose to ignore in Legion when Allied Races were being added and the Broken Isles became default Horde controlled with Highmountain and Suramar. Night Elf buildings, Night Elf aligned Wild Gods, Dryads, Ancients, Temples to Elune, even a random Gilnean Village, as well as Ravencrestâs Keep. For anyone who read War of the Ancients, itâs arguably one of the most Night Elven zones in the game, the return of Ravencrest, Yseraâs death, Wild Gods fighting like in the War of the Ancients. The only thing missing was a reunion between Malfurion, Tyrande, and Illidan.
As for races, I think it makes the most sense for the Centaur to join the Horde, the Furbolgs to join the Alliance, and for the Tuskarr to be neutral races.
Why does anyone assume that the new tree will be in DI?
Look, the most likely scenario is the new world tree will also be a new expansion hub so most likely it will be in the middle of an as of yet unreleased expansion.
It may be Night Elven, but that doesnt make it Alliance. There are many neutral Kaldorei.
They definitely did not go through all the work to add in a giant empty spot off the coast of the Emerald Gardens without intentions to do something with it. Currently, the most sensible thing to do with it is to plop down a new world tree as a patch feature as it allows them to conveniently make it as part of the expansion workflow. It would mesh perfectly well if the Greens and Reds are the the focus of 10.2, given Ysera has sworn herself to seeing it grown fully and it is presently growing in the Emerald Dream.
Are there? Iâve never gotten the impression that there are any non-alliance (living) night elves in the game, outside of villain defectors. It seems contradictory to be a follower of Elune but not side with her high priestess when it comes to picking a faction, or refusing to do so.
I guess they could mean the Cenarian Circle, thatâs really the only organization I can think of with neutral Night Elves. I never thought it was a massive organization though.
I donât really think thatâs any better, IMO. One way or another, theyâre still being headed by a night elf racial leader.
Its how its been shown though. Valâsharah really isnt seen being affiliated with the alliance aligned Kaldorei.
The Cenarion Circle and its offshoots have never once been shown to come to the Allianceâs aid when itâs been needed. Horde players desperately want this to be the case to pretend Legion was an Alliance expansion.
That isnât totally true.
âI worked side by side with many members of the Horde in Mount Hyjal,â Lintharel said quietly. âArchdruid Hamuul Runetotem is a tauren, and one of the greatest leaders of the Cenarion Circle. You cannot judge an entire people by the actions of a few.â
Baenan shook his head. âLass, I wish I could agree with ye. Thâ Cenarion Circle druids can be an exception, as can thâ shaman oâ thâ Earthen Ring. But look at yerself: ye came back from Hyjal anâ returned tae servinâ thâ Alliance. Yer Horde friends have done thâ same. Theyâre yer enemies now, and ye are theirs.â
Lintharelâs hands tightened around her cards. âI serve the Alliance because it is High Priestess Tyrande and Archdruid Malfurionâs will, and I am loyal to them.â She frowned. âBut the divisions between the Horde and Alliance are false ones.â
âFalse divisions enforced with real guns anâ blades!â Baenan snorted. âWarchief Hellscream wants nae peace. Look at yer own home in Ashenvale! Heâs a menace, anâ yer druid friends are complicit in his reign.â He slapped his cards down on the table; he was the winner this round. âAinât nothinâ anâ no one trustworthy in thâ Horde, anâ ye need tae accept that.â
Looks like I stand corrected. Which irrelevant book is this in?
I donât think it matters. Iâve never fought against Magni Bronzebeard but that doesnât mean heâs not an alliance character when I was doing quests for him in BFA.
To be fair, members from the Horde Cenarion Circle also decided to fight for the Horde.
Ahh okay, an irrelevant short story. Of course as we all know theyâre just too busy at literally every other interval and Valâsharah is a notorious Alliance hotspot.
Doesnât have anything to do with Legion or it being an âAlliance expansionâ as is often claimed.
