Baine in shadowlands

Pretty sure what Zovaal took was the entire core of the Arbiter, not the sigil specifically like the mourneblade did. Otherwise it would be weird that the Arbiter has the only spherical sigil compared to the relatively flat designs of all the rest.

iirc, the Primus stated that he took Zovaals sigil using domination magic.

The Primus says: Highlord, send word to your allies in Oribos. They must defend the Arbiter's sigil at all costs.

And we also have

The Primus says: Once, Zovaal stood among us as the Arbiter. Yet he defied the will of the First Ones and sought to unmake the balance of the cosmos.

The Primus says: For his crimes, we stripped our brother of his power and bound him to the Maw. It was I who scribed the runes of Domination upon his flesh.

The Primus says: Four sigils represent the renewed hope of the covenants. I will use them to forge a key… though I must find something to replace the Arbiter’s sigil.

We also have Zovaal say,

The Jailer: At long last, the final key…is once again… mine.

When people tell me Baine is their favorite character all I can think of is “that’s rough, buddy.”

Baine should’ve just not been involved in any of this at all. I’m not sure what Blizzard thought they were doing with that. I guess they needed some Horde rep? And didn’t consider Thrall to be a Horde rep? He’s just a robot cat.

Dreadlords actually do stuff tho.

Baine is just lost, his whole Tauren mythology was just tossed out the window.

I don’t think Cairne would have been casted to any of these 4 zones?? He died before the Arbiter shut down, so wouldn’t make much sense to see him…

Baine be down bad. :frowning:

There are people like that?!

Apparently it’s a thing. Dunno why :wolf:

There are a lot of people who love Baine. I kind of feel like they deserve a little better. I just dislike everything he’s ever done and kind of hope he has some room to grow.

I like Baine. The way he been done in the story so far makes dislike the devs not Baine.

As an Alliance player the only Horde Leaders I would quest with would be Baine and Ji. I might tolerate a few others but quite a few of them would be non-starter/abandon quest.

Baine is a distilled representation of the plight that Tauren and Night Elves suffer from, which is an acute case of Pacifistic Doormat Syndrome. It looked like Tyrande might break free for a moment, but the narrative singularity aura surrounding Sylvanas obliterated her efforts. Now they’re back to loving nature and wearing bootprints meekly.

Bet you can imagine how much fun the Horde players have questing with Jaina, Malfurion, Tyrande, Anduin, etc. As a Night Fae I had an entire expansion of having to deal with an Alliance leader basically spitting on me in my covenant sanctum. I put campfires under her whenever I could as revenge.

I’m sure Alliance players would love questing with Baine, he’s basically an Alliance cheerleader. More specifically, he’s usually an Anduin cheerleader, but that’s pretty close to one and the same.

I don’t even like him speaking because half the time his whole point is to explain how awful the Horde is, and his presence means other heroes have to acknowledge him as being “the true heart” or “strong” or whatever when he does basically nothing. It’s partly why mopey Saurfang didn’t resonate with me and felt a bit awkward.

Love watching gymnastics.

Take a thread mocking Baine and then, leap, twist, flip, and MUH TYRANDE and KILL BAHNSHEEE.

A little stumble in the landing. It needed better pacing, escalated too quickly into becoming overly gaudy. Lacked in subtlety.

I’m equal opportunity hate, because all of the writing is dogturd at this point. I mean… muh Tyrande! Kill Bonbons!

Seeing how a large portion of the Horde went to Teldrassil and continued to back Sylvanas after what had happened, that’s a fair and accurate assessment.

My favorite is Baine not making a stand after Teldrassil, or after Sylvanas blighted Horde troops at Lordaeron, or after Sylvanas raised into undeath Horde troops at Lordaeron. No, no, the gravest sin of the Banshee Queen was her abuse of Derek Proudmoore, clearly. It’s not like we had to steal onto a Forsaken boat and murder a bunch of Forsaken to rescue him or anything.

Oh most definitely. Like he was totally impotent. Even the highly respected shaman Hamuul Runetotem was cowered by Sylvanas. Mayla, leader of the Highmountain, people blessed by Cenarius was kowtowed  to someone who clearly has no respected for nature. It’s only the BIGGEST part of Highmountain culture. You would think they would have more of an obligation to the Night Elves then some genocidal tyrant who subscribes to the scorched earth method.

I have always been of the position that Alliance Players should have Alliance Leaders for questing and Horde Players should have Horde Leaders for questing. There should be no cross-contamination.

Meh. Can’t say I’m a fan of such segregation. At the very least, Ally and Horde stories should interact with each faction’s character’s.

Like… I want the characters to be WoW’s characters, not just “Horde characters” or “Ally characters”.

That doesn’t work while things like Teldrassil are a thing.

Er… Well, Horde players at least still had to quest with Shandris and Tyrande, even if they had avoided picking Ardenweald, they were still railroaded into it during 9.1.

Eh. I like Ardenweald. Moonberry, Ysera and company make it totally worth it.

I’m 5 levels away from capping my renown with Ardenweald. Hopefully this weeks chapter gives me the last 5 I need.
