BlockquoteI think Thrall was there as well sitting dejected on step. It was a pretty sad image for the horde.
Before I advanced the story and they moved on I used to occasionally stop by, sit on the step with Baine and Thrall, set out a Brewfest Pony Keg and drink with them to help them forget. It really was pretty sad.
It shouldn’t be that hard to make him look useful. Just have a scene where he fights a giant monster and wins and congratulations; we now have proof that Baine > 0. He’s already a level “??” racial leader, nobody would be surprised if he was capable of that, it would just mean so much more if we could see it.
Baine I believe is needed as you cannot just have Thrall running around. There are too many alliance leaders in SL compared to Horde. And Baine stood against the Banshee Queen and deserves to see what happens to her. I do wish other races where more relavent to the stories though or have more parts. Maybe go back to Azeroth and do a report to them.
Indeed. That’s why I’m convinced by now that it must be intentional. I just…don’t know why. Some people on the story team must really hate Baine, the Tauren- or the horde as a whole.
Remember the Highmountain recruitment scenario?
“What began with a simple feast led to a battle against an ancient evil seeking to consume the world. My kind of day!” That was the Baine I wanted to see.
And look at him now.
Since Lorthemar declared him “best of the horde” he has done jack. Except for being sad and getting rescued by us.
I can’t help but wonder if that’s supposed to be some kind of message? That the best the horde can and should do is- nothing at all. Just sit on our bums and let the alliance heroes do all the work. It’s just sad.
My Conspiracy theory is back when Blizz intended to have Bwonsamdi be a villain in this x-pac (before deciding against it) there had been a big story arc involving Talanji working to save Rastakhan from Bwonsamdi and Muel’zala.
When that got canned Baine replaced Talanji in Shadowlands as a Place Holder in Shadowlands and Blizz simply never got around to designing anything for Baine, hence him still just sitting around as a place holder.
They had a plan for someone else doing something else and when that changed they had nothing for Baine to do. So he does nothing.
I do think atleast part of it is that Baine is one of Golden’s characters which is why he’s been put in even if he’s done little. I remember in the recent Gamerant interview with Danuser that he mentioned they can’t give all the characters focus every time, which is only partly true because they can make short stories about anyone whenever they want, and it makes them using the characters they recently have questionable. This is a squad of characters that got primary attention in BFA so it feels somewhat unfair to make them the focus of an expansion immediately after one they were already a major part of when there are indeed other characters that have been given less attention. But Golden only cares about her characters and she has a major influence on the story. She’s ensured that one of her characters has been put into the expansion’s spotlight even at the detriment of others who would have more impact.
Yeah! I mean the plot is all about the Alliance. The Horde should be happen they get a token presence. I mean, somebody, at some points, must have remember they exist, at least for a few minutes.
It’s Legions all over again. The moment I realized that Blizzard had nothing for the Horde, except to be the bad guys in faction wars, I switch to Alliance (well, after unsubbing for a year.)
100 % Blizzard has nothing for the horde outside of bad guys in faction war. Part of me looks forward to faction wars, so I can actually quest with horde npcs even though I hate the villain batting.
The arbiters actual sigil, the one Zovaal took (as it was his) didn’t though. And Zovaal was the original arbiter. If anything, it would mean the robot one was “An’she”. Which doesn’t make sense, as An’she is a male and the robot used female pronouns.
