I agree with that, but not everyone does, and they have made an effort in Dragonflight to bring back some of us that found Shadowlands a slog.
I will concede and agree that BFA emissaries had a good thing going for them. It would be nice to have something like that again.
My only issue with current patch content is that it feels a bit overtuned for solo play, especially for alts still trying to catch up gear-wise. I think a bit of tuning fixes would help.
Other than those two things, though, I’m not sure if anything else is needed aside from what I said earlier.
For me personally, the reliance on nameless rng sources for ilvl progression detracts a lot from the experience of gearing a character long term. I don’t feel attached to anything because there’s no tangible memory or experience associated to what I wear, everything comes from the same mystery boxes just at different item levels making the process of acquiring gear both tedious and wholly unmemorable.
If you keep up with statements by devs, feedback from high-profile raiders, and changes in the actual game systems, the pattern becomes quite clear: Devs are trying desperately to appease raiders—whether it’s domination shards being scrapped for tier sets, or power being removed from the open world.
People don’t like doing chores for upgrades. They simply don’t have the time. Using words like ‘engagement metrics’ doesn’t make you right, it just means you have no idea what you’re talking about.
Everything in WoW is decided by engagement metrics.
If participation is too low in any given content, and devs want to continue making that content, the rewards get buffed. For example, almost no one was doing Heroic dungeons unless that new weekly reward was introduced for Champion gear.
Blizzard did an incredible job making the world feel worth actually being in during legion and since then have spent most of their efforts trying to walk it all back to the dismay of many.
After the disastrous sub exodus during WoD, devs attempted to revive the game by introducing M+ to serve as an endgame for 5-man content, and world quests to serve as an endgame for solo and casual players.
SL was the beginning of the end, though. Devs specified raids, dungeons, and rated PvP as the three endgame pillars for the first time, leaving out the open world and unrated PvP—denying them a place in the Great Vault and nerfing their rewards.

Indeed, they’ve been doing this for 18 years, which is why we have a boring, stagnant open world and raid bosses with 75 mechanics.
Problem with it was the same as bfa horrific visions. They were overwhelmingly used more by raiders and m+ers than the intended open world players
Why would horrific visions have been intended for open world players? It clearly had benefits for everyone. Blizz understands that group content players also generally do the rest of the available content as well.
Everything in WoW is decided by engagement metrics
Fake news. There has been loads of content that has been in the game since inception, even if it wasn’t ever as popular as other pieces of content.
People buy WoW knowing what they’re getting. You just decided that you don’t like what WoW is offering, and you think things should be resigned in such a way that you enjoy them.
What on earth do you need tier for?
I’ve yet to play any MMO - despite what people tout - that doesn’t have a boring, stagnant open world.
Is there an MMO where the open world isn’t tuned around the lowest common denominator?
You and Caps are so anti-woke it’s hilarious…ly bad.
You bribe a forum mod who has others take the flack for them to give forum vacations to people who disagree with you.
You lot (establishment forum elitists) try anything and everything to create an echo chamber. Yet when your opponent wants one, the penalty volcano increases.
I would bring politics into this, but that’d just prove my point against you.
Adults do not silence those that disagree with them.
If you got a vacation, it means you broke the rules.
No way around that.
I saw you get flagged.
And lots have you on ignore.
The one breaking the rules here is you.
Elitism towards anyone wanting social mobility in a nutshell.
Also Rowling is a transphobe, not a good one to share.
You and Caps are so anti-woke
So telling people that they are never getting BiS for farming trivial content 12 hours a day while claiming to be casual is anti woke?
Definitions of words and terms change every day it seems.
I’m anti intellectual dishonesty, which this thread is predicated upon; as well as your weird accusations.
Then don’t use the phrase “Fake News”, it’s a scapegoat used in politics to gaslight people into saying they (Republicans usually) are innocent.
You’re not innocent. No one is.
Solo-casual players still can’t make any self-sustaining levels of gold, so this patch is just “more of the same” if your playstyle happens to be solo-casual
You hate to see it
You’re not innocent
Fake news. I’m as innocent as a lamb.
Then don’t use the phrase
Oh so you’re the word police? What a seething, angry man child you are.
Also, how boring are you that you attempt to make a forum post political?
