Lol I was just there fighting the centaur dudes and closed the game cause of the slow exp
I am interested on why you think this post is ironic.
You do know that most of us played like the classic trilogy and know that growth for the game happened without RDF and the declined happened after it.
RDF actually had no bearing on game quality that we can measure.
This stuff is all like a game philosophy argument
at this point with mutilated WrathC, i don’t see why they haven’t added the RDF yet unless they wants people to keep paying for level 70 boosts and server transfers
Agreed. My experience bar is barely moving. I’ve leveled so many characters through wrath content (including its dungeons) that I was already half burnt out before I even started. Taking the time to put together a group, get everyone to the dungeon, etc . . . is almost as monotonous as questing. Moreover, if the group ends up being horrible it’s just wasted time. Because of work many of my guildies have surpassed me so I can’t rely on them to chain spam dungeons.
This might shock you but the levelling experience was a lot longer back in the day and you’re seeing that now
I’d also struggle to believe any group would struggle with the current content that you’ve done, the dungeons get blasted by players currently
It didn’t though.
RDF had no growth effect at all, actually. There’s a graph going around that shows the sub numbers for that time period. When RDF was added, it was Q4 of 2010 (or 2009, I don’t recall), the next number that was posted was a FULL YEAR later in Q4 again. The thing is though, that Q4 posting was right before Cata launched. That’s typically the time when people are coming back to the game anyway.
During that year, it looks like the game grew 500K subs. However, because the next number wasn’t posted for a full year after RDF went active, it’s impossible to say that small amount of growth (when compared to the meteoric growth during TBC and the first year of Wrath) can be attributed to RDF or not. I’m leaning towards not though, because every expansion has people returning right before the next one launches so that’s a more plausible answer than “It was because of RDF”. RDF just wasn’t that influential to any sort of growth.
Now, if you want to talk about the negative effects… you only need look at Retail and how that community behaves AND how people refer to dungeon grinding in Classic as well:
Perfect example right here ^
Except this person is wrong, and that’s a player problem that stems from the use of RDF. Being allowed to jump in and out of groups randomly gives people the “excuse” that they don’t have to talk to anyone, and that they can just run the content and disappear because “I’ll never see these people again”, completely forgetting this is an MMO, and social interaction within a group is baked in and glossing over that so you can just “grind content” completely misses the point of both MMOs AND RPGs.
I meant to write without RDF
It sounds like you would have hated actual Wrath launch.
No JJ.
No RDF
Mounts still at 40/60/70 instead of 20/40/60
It sounds like you didn’t read my other post where I talked about how it was a different time, with a different community, where WoW had a sense of adventure, and people approached group content in a completely different way than they do in Classic WOTLK.
Its different now, this is already the post-RDF community whether you want to admit it or not
They just said they were there for the EverQuest and FFXI days, where leveling was ten times longer and more group-dependent.
People clamored for classic back because we were sick of all of the retail changes that happened over the years, primarily starting in Wrath and onwards where the constant cries of everything needs to be easier and faster transformed then game into something unrecognizable.
Yes, people are different. But we are here to play a classic game because it’s not a game that has (d)evolved over time catering to the faster/easier mentality.
You can enjoy content without having to waste multiple hours of your life. Also, RDF doesn’t make the game easier. It’s not like dungeons decrease in difficulty.
Technically you get a buff when you use RFD so they do actually make them easier.
Either way you still have to explore the world for quests and considering how leveling is still a slog, that’s “harder” by elitist standards.
Q3 2010, there’s two rows. The reason for the gap is because the numbers remained at a consistent level for that period, so it doesn’t get added to the official graph due to no change.
Yes it has. Wrath already made things easier in a lot of ways, and Wrath Classic is changed to be extremely easy with heroic plus dungeons, instant level 70 boosts, etc.
The game is already different. This is not the Wrath you’re describing. Sorry.
RDF? Was in the game. Was part of the game people enjoyed. It’s what people want. Sorry.
Was in the game after the last content raid came out. Sorry but it doesn’t fit in this phase or the next one. Maybe we will give it to you when ICC comes out and you can do it for a whole year.
I fail to see what raid content has to do with leveling dungeons
I forgot about that buff. I’d like to see that go as well with any possible future implementation.
