I had to walk until level 40 and then grind 90g to ride a horse. And 90g was a lot back then.
I had to take an hour away from questing when I got a new mace to level my mace skill up
I had to resort to melee abilities if mobs got too close to my hunter
Newly created night elf players got lost in the Ban’ethil Barrow Den. Some still have yet to return.
The Barrens was the first half of every Horde’s leveling experience. You spent days searching for zevhra hooves and making chuck norris jokes and you liked it
Night elves all died a hundred times over on the perilous journey from the Wetlands to Ironforge.
Ding! You have new abilities. Now return to the capital city and spend all of your gold on new ranks of spells. Don’t forget to put your talent point in the right spot for +1% to haste!
Mages fell to their death. Because they forgot to buy feathers for slowfall
Ah yes, the Terror Run. Some of us did that in reverse to get to the Night Elf starting zone – back in the day, starting zones were a great way to build faction rep. And if you get bored questing in one continent, you could hop over to the other … but you had to make the run through the Wetlands first, and on a low-level character that wasn’t easy.
8 hour maintenance was the standard back in the day. Every Tuesday, 8 hours like clockwork. People would be going completely ape shiz if that was happening today.
As a lock in a raid people would just run up and open a trade with you. Expecting you to be a good warlock and put a cookie in the window without saying a word.
I’ve heard this before… you bought a burger, fries, milkshake and a 3bed/2bath house for a nickel–and you walked to school, barefoot, uphill both ways in the snow while getting pelted by hail from a tornado.
I will admit, I don’t miss the days of running out of ammo/arrows on the hunter… it’s like running out of toilet paper on the commode.
