You aren’t cool or edgy and nobody fears you cause you play undead with your unblemished and most human looking face available for undead female. You definitely aren’t rebellious either supporting Sylvanas. You don’t care about other players suffering cause of the awful Sylvanas plot and you need to take the biggest L for supporting it.
If Sylvanas doesn’t die Blizzard is just giving the Alliance the biggest middle finger, that’s what it comes down to. For years Sylvanas has done nothing but commit mass murder and other evil deeds without punishment, and then to add to it genocide against the Night Elves.
I get that Horde players don’t want MoP 2.0 and to lose another Horde leader (I really hate that they killed Cairne and Vol’jin these were the most unnecessary deaths in WoW.), but if the situation were reversed and this was Jaina who had killed thousands of Horde people and committed genocide, then the Horde would be saying the exact same thing. They would want Jaina dead.
Any kind of story that doesn’t end with Sylvanas dead is going to feel really hamfisted and cringey, especially if it’s some bullcrap redemption.
Buddy, I’ve been unsubbed since mid-February. Irrelevant of Sylvanas’s current narrative (which I find sh!t by the way, you need to look up on my post history frankly), I don’t support Warchief-roulette or Civil War 2.0. I definitely didn’t support Garrosh on his path to get offed from Cata/MoP and I don’t support Sylvanas “getting a turn” now.
Hold those L’s if you continue to fail to recognize that the players, us, me, you, them, whoever, have literally no control over the narrative direction. Understand that narrative is solely the reponsibility of Blizzard. Blizzard killed Garrosh, Blizzard put Vol’jin as Warchief, made him do nothing, then killed him, Blizzard decided to make Sylvanas Warchief. Stop being a shill and recognize that people posting on this forum aren’t your enemy.
There’s two types of people on this Story Forum, those who criticize the writers and those who continue to shill for an incompetent narrative.
It is really more than that. You have to consider history. People thought she was not a significant threat. And then she started a war and burned a city. She crossed a line that I don’t see a way it can be uncrossed. Even ignoring the calls for justice (which would be significant), after her past actions I don’t think anyone could see her as not a threat. So, there would have to be a reason that the world did not burn her. And if it is some plot armor that says she cannot die because X, then it is basically she can do whatever and everyone just has to take it. Aside from that, the only other option is unstoppable powerful. Both of which do hold the player base hostage.
Well, probably going to be a case of some are not happy regardless. The most satisfying for the Alliance would not be for the Horde. And vice verse. That is why the third party option may be the best. It could be Azshara. Or maybe Hella collecting on a debt. Or heck the Argents or Ebon Blade could step in and end her. Etc, etc.
Well, death may not be permanent. Resurrections can always happen. Which is what Illidan was. And she has literally been dead before. So, you could argue that her death could be reversed. But, killing her would be less forced than some magic prison. And there is still the big problem of ever bringing her back. She is a villain, end of story. All she would come back as is a villain unless you do some magic character does a 180, which is not good.
This is the other consideration. Blizzard crapped on the Alliance a lot. They even talked about the Alliance taking big hits leading into BfA. For this to end with no justice and Sylvanas still hanging around would basically be kicking the players while they are down.
Its a good ending for Sylvanas
You’re probably right that Sylvanas’ potential in the story has basically been squandered this expac, which is too bad. C’est la vie! I remain hopelessly optimistic that Blizzard might find some way to cut this Gordion knot in some satisfying way for me.
I can understand that. My fear is they will try to Grom 2.0 her. (That is Grom MU, I certainly hope they have learned enough to know that AU Grom ending would be terrible.) There are definitely parallels between her and Grom. And there are some things that seem to point to more coming.
Lets both hope for an ending that is at least a little satisfying to most people.
