Azeroth is arguably well ahead of us at least into the AI age given the widespread use of self thinking magi-tech mechs/bots with combat and other advanced capabilities (as well as have clearly developed electricity and electronics).
Just on the tech point alone they have us beat, but as numerously pointed out they also have: demigods and “gods” who can do crazy things like control the plant life and weather, incurable diseases not-known to science, WMD (bioweapons like Blight, manabombs, enhanced larger manabombs, etc) etc…
Any one of these leaking into the real world and working as they do in Azeroth would spell our DOOM, meanwhile you know what happens if Flu breaks out in Azeroth? Dispel disease…
With prep Gul’dan could probably solo most countries one-on-one. When he starts summoning demons he just doesn’t stop, and he can summon much more powerful demons than can almost any other Warlock of which I’m aware. Even if they’re all killed he can just summon more, or rip the same ones back out of the nether to serve him again, all the while sitting himself wherever he pleases, out of all sight and mind, while they go out and do his work for him.
Hell, if anything he’s liable to cop some followers Earth-side along the way. Lure them in with health and soulstones, then get them to drink the demon blood koolaid and join his army.
Um, because the guy (and gals) with the military grade guns and tanks and artillery and aircraft aren’t 30-year-old neckbeards playing from their parents’ basements?
So battered, caked with the dirt of a million uses, and kept in service because maintenance is cheaper than either replacement or research and development.
Azeroth has already faced threats which required the factions to unite together. Earth has yet to have a similar instance where the entire planet required undivided united teamwork.
i want to say azeroth would win because of all the magic and stuff. but then… then we see how time and again they have so very little in the way of real combat defense. the reality is the powerful people on azeroth are far and few between. a mana bomb being the biggest explosive they had to deal with and couldnt stop it from a slow moving balloon…
we have so many nukes we could blow up the planet several times over.
we have stealth jets that can drop these things faster than a dragon can save a falling stone guy.
if pure destruction was the goal. there would be no contest.
in the us everyone basically has weapons that would make hunter classes look under equipped.
the lore world would be in shambles. the game version where everyone is a hero class, then the earth loses.
ideally we reach a common agreement of friendly trade.
but the legion attacking, that could get messy. we already have the lizard people taking over so that cold escalate into a inter galactic multi dimensional war over who gets the earth. ;D
Earth would beat Azeroth because there is a giant iron core at the center of the Earth that creates a magnetic field preventing the Sun from blasting all life on the planet. What’s inside of Azeroth? A Titan that hasn’t hatched and can’t defend itself. Solar bursts should have fried everyone on Azeroth by now.
Through a portal?? Don’t think so you’ll have to beam it through if Earth even have enough understanding of Azeroth to do it. Each has it’s strength in it’s own place ,Azeroth has it’s magic and chaotic nature and earth has it’s military might ,if they stay in their place but has soon as one leaves that barrier that is lost.
Considering the actual calculable physical size of Azeroth, it doesn’t stand a chance against Earth. Attrition alone would be the end of Azeroth’s denizens.
Guys. Time-travelling dragons. How is this still even an argument?
The second the first nuke goes off, “oh wait, no it didn’t” because the ones monitoring timelines saw it coming and sent in a team of champions to stop anyone from ever pressing the big red button. If the bronze dragonflight decides Azeroth can’t lose this fight, it won’t.
The Bronze Dragonflight are pretty well known for protecting the timeline “as is” regardless of what they otherwise could prevent. If Azeroth is destined to be destroyed, they’d preserve that timeline.
The Iron Horde was doing some serious damage to the Azeroth characters. “The Gang” had to cause local insurrections in order to tip the scales.
A guy with some armor and a machine gun is basically a boss so, y’know, I definitely think Azeroth is in for a rude awakening.
Also as mentioned, stuff like Legion ships are pretty devastating and we have far more powerful weapons.
Only if they’re supposed to win in the one true timeline.
Bronze dragons basically never do anything meaningful in terms of world affairs. They helped take down Deathwing twice and helped in the War of Shifting Sands and that’s it. And they didn’t do time travel… they just used their draconic breath weapons to tip the scales.
Yes, I am aware that the Bronzes protect the ‘one true timeline,’ which is why i said,
that said, I think it’s been proven pretty solidly in the lore that the Bronze dragonflight views Azeroth’s survival as a priority. having it be ‘nuked to oblivion’ doesn’t seem to match up with what the Bronze dragonflight would view as an acceptable outcome. Murozond’s end time was basically that, and they sought to stop it.
edit: and to be fair, i feel like you’re moving the golapost on this one. “WHO WOULD WIN!? (oh, but you have to disregard one of Azeroth’s factions because we don’t know if they’d side with… Azeroth.)”
