Soft retconning Chronicle was a **** disaster.
No one seems to be taking ley lines into account. Those are basically the planet’s veins. Also as mentioned, Azeroth’s wounds are arcane. Azeroth bleeds arcane, arcane is Order, Azeroth is a titan.
Draenor has leylines despite being a titanless planet.
Bastion’s Death Magic also deals Arcane Damage as does Broker Death Magic.
Arcane isn’t limited to Order anymore than Nature is limited to Life(as proven by Ardenweald) or Necromancy is limited to Death(as proven by Calia and the Dark Star).
There is also Holy Order Magic.
Not necessarily. The planet is festooned with Titan complexes converting the world soul’s energies into ordered magics. They even have an arcane seal on her soul that keeps anyone else getting near it ala BFA’s previously so top secret even Keeper Ra was unaware of it Chamber of the Heart. It is quite possible the leylines being arcane is a byproduct of all that machinery at work.
I get the vibe world souls are sort of just beings of raw potential. They are the most powerful beings because they can in theory be anything. They may be what was left of the Progenitors after they bound the primordial cosmos into its present configuration; sort of slumbering embers of previously powerful creator gods.
So explain Argus. Who was pumped full of Fel (used as a battery for the Legion) and Death (so he would go to the Shadowlands and knock out the robot arbiter) magic, neither of which are Arcane and yet he is still considered a Titan.
Legion was written with chronicles still being gospel truth, and when they cut that off at the knees it threw everything up into the air. So, in short? No clue! My best guess is they changed their minds on one of two things, either Azeroth is not a normal world soul like Argus, but instead something special, or there was more to Argus than met the eye. Basically, probable retcons either way. yaaaay. /s
If I were to steelman it, I guess you could argue the various forces pulling on Argus at the same time sort of balanced out and the pantheon acting in concert tugged the balance in the direction Order. Though… I am not entirely sure he even was a Titan by the time we saw him, He had completely lost his connection to Order and was a being of Death.
First ones Did It.
Firing from the Hip
This new voice of Azeroth from the trailer is the same as the fish in the Azshara Warbringer telling her to “let go.”
No offense to the folks theorizing that Azeroth’s World Soul, and World Souls in general, do not become Titans, but have you ever considered that if this were the case that Blizzard made a big mistake at Blizzcon?
13.0 is named, ‘The Last Titan.’ Pretty sure that’s going to be Azeroth so… you know. Bit of a naming snafu if she’s not actually a Titan.
My personal theory is that while yes, Azeroth is a titan, she’s a new type of titan that we never seen before. If that makes sense
Thats assuming the last titan is azeroth.
The real Pantheon of Order corrupted Aman’thul’s world soul with Order
Well we have what Metzen said about Azeorth’s true nature coming to light and the whole uber titan conspiracy, and we next have shadowlands lore suggesting Azeroth is related to and is the fulcrum of the progenitor Zeroth sites that keep reality bolted together, and then we also have the newly empowered aspects straight up saying this is not Titanic power Azeroth gave us… and given they wielded it for 20,000 years I think they would know.
I think it is just playing the odds at this point.
In that case, who do you believe the Last Titan will be?
No clue, The title seems primed to be intentionally picked for subversion of expectations. I would bet it won’t make sense until near the end of Midnight.
What did he say, exactly?
What? From what I recall, Zovaal just wanted to use the World Soul as an energy source to remake reality. Wouldn’t surprise me that an exceptionally powerful World Soul, nurtured by the Titans, would provide the oomph he’d need.
Their words were, “This is not the power of the Titans.” As in, its an unfamiliar power. I’m sure Argus’ power would’ve also been unfamiliar to them, since they’d never met him. I do not imagine the Aspects’ experiences with Aman’thul and co gives them a blanket understanding of the power of every Titan that has ever been and ever will be.
Well, since no one can really experience just who, ‘The Last Titan,’ will be, I can’t say these theories that Azeroth isn’t a Titan make much sense. Right now it’s a World Soul, but World Souls become Titans.
I personally think Azeroth is the 7th force that was locked away and that’s why everyone’s been so desperate to unleash her and get her on their side.
There is also the idea she is actually a progenitor herself. Backing that you have the oracle’s lines “Her dreams sing beneath the surface, Quiet now, but her voice will awaken the others” The “others” being the other progenitors who also slumber.
Another option that occurred to me is she might actually be the only actual titan to begin with. One of the N’zoth lines “She is not the last, but the first. Drown her and you will see.” has just remained stuck in my brain to that effect.
I think The Last Titan will be sargeras.
Well, no, I dont believe that, but I’m calling it.
Iridikron wants to lure the Titans to Azeroth, i believe he and Xal’atath have figured out how to weaken and kill titans, and will lure them to Azeroth and do the deed, with the Titans out and Azeroth vulnerable, Sargeras will either comeback as the main villain or an unexpected ally.
