There is no such thing as “toxic masculinity.” It is something made up, as an excuse for bad behavior.

I’m 52 and have never once “whistled” at a female, in real life. Nor have I ever said things like, “Hey baby!” That would be ridiculous and stupid, I’d feel like an idiot.

So it is pretty dumb to remove it from a video game.

The old /whistle never bothered me (but then again getting cat called in real life didn’t either. i’d just ignore it unless it was someone I knew.)

What’s interesting is they changed the /whistle but you can still /spit on someone and you can /laugh at them. If you are going to get all warm and fuzzy about one emote shouldn’t you get warm and fuzzy about the others? Why don’t we wrap players in bubble warp too and give them milk and cookies at nap nap time while we are at it. /end sarcasm

PS suggestive moan is still in the game too

This is what I don’t get. We run around killing whatever we want with impunity from any sort of punishment but somehow /whistle is wrong, so I propose that instead of being a bunch of homicidal maniacs we should now have to sit down and work our issues out with discussions and reason. It’s time we put away our weapons and spells and use diplomacy

How about the half nude female characters running around capitol cities that I see every day? that offend you?
And the four letter words in game and sexual innuendo (“deep places of the earth
” )in some of the /silly jokes? Do those offend you?
Or is all of THAT ‘offensive’ crap to someone else ok because you ignored it or didnt take offense at it personally?

If this game is that offensive then maybe we should just let it die because someone is going to be offended by something no matter what its currently like and we all know it.

$100 says I can find DOZENS of ‘offensive’ things in game and post them here that one SHOULD take offense at IF they are offended by a silly whistle.
My guess is they wont
at which point it’ll be really hard to take them serioiusly

I never used it so I really don’t care. However, I hope the reason it was changed wasn’t because Blizzard deemed it problematic.
