This change has been massively bad for character progression this expansion. I did normal and most of heroic raid (8/9) with my guild on Tuesday. I’m capped on Runed crests just from raid. I can’t upgrade my gear anymore because I’m already out of mid-tier crests. I could potentially replace some of my Champion gear with Hero track, but I wouldn’t be able to upgrade it anyways. I can’t DO 9s. I can somewhat reliably time 7s with my guildies, but 8s would greatly depend on which key.
So I log in Tuesday, clear raid. Then casually fill my vault slots for the week with almost no character progression. I’ve done all the achievements I can, I capped my professions, I’ve collected most of the battle pets…I logged in and sat on my main in the city for 45 minutes today.
I’m BORED. I don’t feel motivated to play AT ALL. Why is this happening at the beginning of a season? This is so SAD.
There’s gonna be a lot nitpickers on this argument I’m sure. But overall…this change from 6 to 9 for max tier crests ultimately locks out a significant portion of players from character progression.
Being soft locked to 4/6 hero gear makes very little sense to me. Outside of wanting people to be challenged with a bit lesser gear running 9s and 10s.
They could have crest drops transition over a range instead of hard transition points. 7s could reward some gilded, 8s a little more and at 9 it is all gilded. Would help with the progression brick wall people are facing.
I WANT to push harder content and I don’t have the gear to do it. I can’t get the gear to do it. Making gear a little harder to accomplish is fine. But like a person below said, +7 or +8 would have been a MUCH better choice.
Instead of pushing, I’m doing nothing. I feel stuck because even timings 7s are can be tricky, ESPECIALLY with pugs.
My pugs have been 50/50 so far at the 7 level. There’s alot of nuances to these dungeons that tanks/dps don’t really know that come into play 7+. Had a CoT+7 fall apart 2nd pull (thank god), Into a CoT 7, with a 1500 tank (his key) that was ridiculously smooth.
At some point it’s your fault for not having him on ignore lol.
Handful of people in every M+ thread arguing with everyone. Just ignore the 3-4 of them and your experience will be way better.
The crest distribution being bad is universally acknowledged - M+ engagement is way down. Just put him on ignore and you’ll see what most of us see - well meaning people arguing with no one in the thread.
Hero track gear should be dropping at +5/6, and Gilded crests at +7/8. No clue why Blizz decided to simultaneously make M+ harder AND raise the minimum required key level for certain rewards
8s were all that were required to keep getting stuff in the vault that were actual upgrades.
I only had to try ONE WEEK out of the season to get my portals…then I dropped back down to 8s so that I didn’t have to stress out.
This new system is obnoxiously difficult and doesn’t need to be.
There is nothing wrong with delves and they are not what’s killing M+.
What’s killing M+ is the fact they gutted crests, put the mythic track way further up, put miserably low crest weekly caps, increased the amount of crests required to upgrade gear, and made M+ incredibly more difficult while putting the threshold for mythic track way up and not even hero track gear can be fully upgraded by hero track range content.
Don’t blame delves for the fact they took a sledgehammer to M+ because they’d rather do that than accept raid rewards suck for what they take to do and nobody wants to raid for 3-4 hours fixed schedules for garbage rewards.
While I agree with your post (and even up-voted it)… I am missing what this RAID issue is supposed to be?
Am i truly in the minority as a person who has a dedicated raiding guild, raids 2x a week and focuses soley on AOTC but uses M+ to supplement and often surpass gear? I also utilize M+ as a way to “push” beyond what my raiding guild does b/c it can be done on my own time. I only view what I’m doing as helping the raid group (and myself).
