I remember this being instant cast. It has a 1 second cast time on the ptr. Am I wrong?

The instant cast was a later change, in TBC it always had a cast time.

Yep. It’s a casted spell. Still OP as f#@$. Enjoy beating some DPS in 5mans in damage.

I didn’t remember the cast time either. My last memory of it is single target instant cast but I think that was cause of glyphs. Which I am also looking forward to in a few years.

Its instant in Wrath. TBC always had a cast time. Also doesn’t silence in TBC.

In it’s original form it had a 1 sec cast, it was not until patch 3.0.2 (Wrath pre-patch) that it was reduced.

Patch 3.0.2 (14-Oct-2008): Avenger’s Shield (Protection) cast time reduced to .5 seconds, duration increased to 10 seconds.

Later it became instant.

And the instant cast version was the easiest way to get glad for ‘holy’ Paladins in 2s. It was actually sort of sick. Your dps goes in a pops CDs, you hit wings and throw out the avengers shield slowing them and silencing them for a ton of damage then you follow with a stun. Boom.
