nice you guys are all right
If there’s a large bracket to push through, the rating becomes more and more spread out. If you start at 1500 and drop to 1300 you can simply remake the team and try again without having to grind out of the 1300s MMR was not a thing in the original system.
With starting at zero, some players who aren’t the best could get hard stuck at very low ratings. When you’re so low in MMR you need to win streak hard in order to get out of it. If you’re just slightly improving here and there it’s a tall order to ask, and it could take a very long time to get those 300 points needed.
If you lose 3 or win 3 in a row your MMR will also start changing drastically. If you lose 4 in a row it could take 20+ games with a 70% w/L before your rating stabilizes. It’s a very brutal system
I have noticed this a lot. I have gone 20+ game win streaks and just loss throw you back into this bracket you can’t get out of.
I wonder if the 1000 rating has something to do with the fact that new players who join your team start at 1000 rating after you get the team over that number?
Yeah I have no idea how they came up with this monstrosity of a rating system. Either go with original TBC system (preferred) or current retail system but not this half-measure abomination between the two.
Most likely related. Probably some crossed wires on blizzards end. Regardless it needs to be fixed and every week that goes by just creates a sense of dread that the season will end completely broken and tons of people will be screwed out of titles
The lack of fresh 1500 teams injecting rating into the 1400-1600 range is having a massive negative impact on the average rating. The entire ladder effectively has less points to go around, and weekly point system is centered around 1500… You basically see no significant point gains until after 1500, however, 1500 is unnecessarily hard to reach/surpass at the moment. A vast vast majority of players are stuck with base arena point gains.
Is there an accurate points calculator or does the old one still work? The old one seemed to make little difference leading up to 1500. After you got to 1600 or 1700 your points double. Because that was supposed to be a sign that you were starting to excel beyond 50 percent.
They fixed the arena point gain a few weeks ago.
But yeah, a little late with that. Seems to be the story with blizzard lately. By the time they fix something the damage has already been done.
People who don’t keep track of the forums would’ve done games the first week and saw they got 150 points and called it quits.
Still, the brackets would be significantly lower is the player pool was being correctly counted
Someone on Reddit posted an updated arena point calculator, but I don’t have the link to it. My friends who were getting 500 points a week at 1700ish now get 700ish
I found it, they did buff the points considerably if this is accurate. Under the old system 1500 is equal to 700ish rating now in 2v2.

Yeah, even at 2400 I got nearly 100 more each week. Very needed change.
Anyway, title API fix when?
Yeah the arena point change was much needed and helps with arena participation for sure. Now API fix would be awesome so people get appropriate titles at the end.
I had a friend who had that issue and he transferred to a server where he plays with 300 ping just to have a chance at titles.
i’ve benn tempted to do the same but nobody is going to want to play with someone on 300ms when they have other options.
Bumping. This still hasn’t been fixed
everyone saw this when blizzard changed how the entire arena rating system worked, forcing players to start at 0 rating, creating more of a grind to get to 1500.
the problem with SMURFing high rated teams who pick up a low rated partner, stomping any low rated team. this only adds to the grind.
with the rating requirements to even get the season 1 weapons/shoulders, most casual and PVE centered players wont bother playing arena due to no guarentees.
if you look back at TBC in 2007, you wanted a higher player activity in the arena to create a larger arena pool for titles etc.
with how it is right now, all the people who were for these “only good pvpers should get the purples” etc… well enjoy barely getting duelist this season… less players doing arena, less pool to get glad. sucks to suck i guess…
What Blizz did with TBC Area just proves that being a dev doesn’t mean you know what hell you are doing.
Unfortunately this probably won’t be fixed, or even at the very least looked into. It’s truly unfortunate and a very bad side effect with the new MMR system. It’s even more upsetting because Gladiator is more than just the title, the mount being 310% is super super nice, basically the only reason why I’m bothering with PvP in BC.
Though I’m optimistic and hopeful Blizzard will do something about it, chances are high that they won’t due to track records.
Good luck yal’.
It’s a completely unknown bug that would’ve never seen the light of day if teams didn’t start from 0.
But even still if the API is fixed then starting from 0 is fine. They increased points gained below 1500 to fix that mess up, so this is the only remaining issue with it.
An absolutely massive issue, too.
In the USA there are currently about 65 2v2 teams which will get a Rank 1 title. This is absolutely stupid. There are more people getting rank 1 titles from 2v2 then there will be people just getting plain old gladiator from 5v5.
This is so insanely stupid.
