AV Wing Commanders?

Is there any function for these NPCs in the current version of AV we are playing in TBC Classic?

They say you get bonus honor when they make it back to base.

Problem is, nobody lets the match go on for that long.

Ok, I wondered if that was the case. I guess it’s worth attempting to send them. I’d love to see a breakdown of what exactly contributes to the honor total at the end of the game.

You get 20 honor for each commander that makes it back. So 60 total if they all make it.

Your three Wing Commanders (held in enemy territory) can be freed and sent running home. They award your team bonus honor and offer a turn-in quest once they reach your home base. - Note: “Secondary Objectives” on the in-game scoreboard refer to Wing Commanders and nothing else.

From wowpedia

The only problem with Wowpedia is you can’t tell what version of the game and AV it might be referring to.

Fair. It was in a section about the history of the BG so it could very well be from any iteration.

No, I have never seen them in tbc or onward. They would be really useful in old av, but we never got that and any classic plus would benefit from such a battleground.

  1. You get bonus honor if a pilot makes it back to the base and isn’t killed.
  2. If given enough items, they can be sent to bomb the enemy raid.

The issue is that most matches end so quickly that pilots are unlikely to even make it home before a general is killed. AV wasn’t designed to be so fast. With 10m matches, most mechanics can’t even be used.

Even without the rush north/south meta. the Reinforcement systems don’t give enough time for any of the turnin based events to happen, or if they do, not enough time for them to be impactful

I just want to fight kobolds gather supplies

As an experiment I’ll try to send, I think it’s “Guse” in IWB, back tonight and follow her. I’ll take 60 honor every game if I can get it.
