AV Changes Needed for New PVP System

The new PVP system will be worse than SoM, with the sides rushing in AV 24/7.

Not only is that not PVP, it will promote even more afkers, botting and RMT.

  • The bosses should be boosted in power to essentially require at least 2-3 towers down.

  • honor and rep from objectives should be slightly nerfed to encourage players to ALSO do WSG and AB, the two BGs where it is easier to identify bots/afkers.

Any other ideas?

Are you just throwing out all the buzzwords?

How is this promoting RMT?

Join a premade. You dont have to follow the herd. AV becomes the defacto bg because its easier to play solo and you dont run into premades.

People have gamed the pvp system for gear, it is fun I think the best was in tbc when s1 gear was buyable with honor because enhancement offhands were bad. In vanilla naxx phase if the baseline is r14 gear then that is good for naxxing. Aside from the trinkets, 1ring, belt and bracers. r14 is about on par with a40-bwl gear.

I remember av was in vanilla just a way to get an offhand and a good enough dps ring.

I get why Zerg rush is a thing and remember it starting in retail TBC in BG9.

The authentic “Vanilla” AV is the game that goes on for hours and you do all the things. I haven’t seen wolf riders in many years. It is kind of a shame that doing AV that way isn’t better honor per hour

I still remember AV lasting days. I’m all for doing objectives and playing D.

Almost nobody does the secondary objectives already and you want to further discourage it??

Counterproposal: Wolves & Rams gain 30% Dodge/Spell Reflect/Armor Penetration, CC Immunity (with the exception of Soothe Animal), Truesight, Thrash, and are now worth honorable kills. Faction Generals cannot be engaged until your Riders are summoned.

People pay other Real Money in a Transaction for bots to farm honor for them.

If AV is the highest honor per hour, even the premades will be running AV 24/7.

In SoM, it was ALL AV, with maybe one WSG going ever.

As if the old system didn’t encourage this even more than the new one?

As I said in your other thread:

Updating boss health on fully progressed realms is a no brainer.

It’s probably fine to increase tower bosses hp/power.

How does this system promote AV?

It’s the same thing as any other rank on a new server.

Noobs make discord and flock to av. Play 20hr a day

Premaders start playing WSG and AB. Outfarm everyone on the noob av premade discord and all the good players stop playing their bc wsg ab honor is better.

It’s gonna be the same thing with this rank change. Premades will play way less doing other BGs and av spammers will still play 18+ hr days

I don’t get the argument with the RMT part. You have a hard cap now at 750k (not set figure) and after that there’s no point in doing it further. You’re also not battling one another anymore.

You can do it at your leisure so the strain to grind it is far less demanding. Why would someone pay for something that essentially does nothing in the long term.

Unfortunately, there will still be people trying to circumvent the system. Bots will still be a problem and more so because blizzard doesnt really police em.

Redacted.

Hopefully, this doesn’t happen.

We’ve seen it before twice where there were next to no WSG/AB games and everyone is in AV:

  1. During the release of Classic BGs when the allies were premading where it was, hands down, my least favorite PVPing time of Classic PVP because I was horde and I had to solo queue, the only fun part of that was the wpvp between queues, and yes, the horde was FiLLED with AFKers and botters.
  2. During SoM when the horde were premading with queue syncing and doing the same thing until that Discord got shut down (although one was set up later and it happened again).

We’ll see though. Maybe there will be more premades doing WSG and AB for the better HPH and so maybe it will pop but if not, I hope the kinks get ironed out before I play again in the next season (where I strongly think at least a similar system will be used).

Oh yeah, and I’ll add this: I know of several who got suspensions for AFKing AV in tbc when all that they got was a currency. So the number of hours they needed to spend in BGs was drastically less than it was for those ranking. Meaning that afking and even botting is not just a “this takes less time” thing at all, it’s an “I don’t want to play this but I want the gear” thing.

That isn’t how it worked early Classic or in SoM. In SoM, with the fast ranking, spamming AV was the best honor per hour, especially if you premaded AV. You almost never saw WSG going because there were 7-8 AVs going all the time.

Premades also like fast wins, and if the PUGs are all qing AV, the premades will sit in WSG/AB queue with no one but other premades to fight. No reason to fight another premade in a long game if you can just roll into AV and get an 8 minute win. Bad honor/hour when PUGS are qing AV.

This will only be exacerbated by the fact that we are in P6 and and the bosses can be killed with all four warmasters up.

I think PVP bots will be even more common now that there is a fixed amount of honor needed to rank up. Previously, you never knew how much was required for the top spot, so it was hard for RMT botters to put a price on it. Now, it’s gonna be “$2000 for R14 guaranteed in 8 weeks.” This will be even easier since the honor farming will gravitate toward AV making it easy for people to afk and bots to hide.
