There were many posts last week about unfair bans, chat bans and small time bans that led to multiple week long/month long bans.
People kept arguing wether the system was automated or not when now we have definintive proof.
There are thousands and thousands of wrongful bans for AFK/BG Exploitation not only reported on here but on the main Subreddit as well.
People are realizing that if they report someone enough on multiple toons/friends accounts they can ban anyone in the game that they want to.
Blizzard Support also is useless as they very rarely even read the appeals as even that process is somewhat automated.
Activision gutted this game’s Customer Service base and they went on to instill incredibly harsh rules with an automated system that unfairly punishes people, Blizzard needs to answer for this injustice towards the community as people are paying customers and don’t deserve this sort of headache.

yup its 100% automated
Welcome to the future, Customer service is done by soulless robots.
You really think Blizzard hires GMs? lol

If it wasn’t 100% automated then it was 100% incompetence.
I am not sure which is worse.

The report that gets you on a list is automated and is sent to a gm.
Then the gm just hits ban without reviewing anything so that they can say it’s not automated.

Assuming it’s not fully automated, I am guessing they have a program that generates an activity # based on several factors. The cs agent’s only real review source is this #, and if it’s too low, ban.
this is what I’d do, if I were a scumbag company either that or lie about hiring ppl that review it
The system requires a gm review at some point. Blizzard has confirmed this before.
That being said they also have confirmed you can be temp banned pending review auto if enough reports. This still gets a gm review at some point but non the less you are banned for a bit. Never was it said they do a good job reviewing thou.
They confirmed that after asmongold on stream had his fans all report him to see what happened only for a instant ban.
Definately automated. Its the appeal process that gets reviewed.
The thought process is if its a bot they will not appeal the ban.

If we all have GM banning powers with extra steps, the server communities should be able to police bots themselves. Just have a volunteer team setup on Discord to go through the lists of bots in dungeons and automatically ban them with right-click reports.
If it takes 20 reports, that means we all have 5% “ban power.” Multiboxers have 100% ban power! Multiboxers can go around cleaning up servers themselves!

don’t the ppl that play like bots in instances get banned?
Other way around. Multiboxers are usually the ones reported for botting not doing the reporting.
Multi boxers in fact did use reports to temp ban people.
It was in fact one of the things that made people dislike multi boxers. Was this famous one on illidan for awhile that had 80 accounts he would mass report people if you started to get enough to do anything about him causing people to get temp locked till he was banned for report abuse. Well community thinks that was reason he was banned as that was mainly what people reported him for.
You will find the ratio is more in favor of the single player reporting the multiboxer.
The ratio sure but that was not what was being talked about in the post you org responded to.
Is this true? If so its awful. Not to mention a 30 day ban? Seriously? They ruined all of those people WotLK launch over the free give away of honor gear they created for themselves? For putting leveling players in the same BG as 70s? For people playing the objectives in AV instead of just zug zug into whatever people zug zug into?
Holy smokes…

Yes the process has been reviewed since but the pratice caused asmongold to make a vid of it showing it of having all his fans report him and instantly ban him. Blizzard made a post about it at the time this was in wod that the pratice was being reviewed. Since then it has been shown to still happen but require a much higher number of reports now vs the old about 50.
Donno how many are needed now days.
I will note in asmongolds case it took 3 days for the appeal to override the ban and that was with a ton of publicity.
Don’t like the streamer myself but is a good case study of this.

Yeah I am with you. Something tells me these people aren’t going to get the Asmongold treatment.

No they won’t and likly will take 2 weeks to review if lucky.

Imagine all the people who aren’t lucky enough to have Asmongold’s level of noteriety, a lot of people are stuck being accused by trolls of doing something wrong while Blizzard auto-denies every appeal.
I feel bad for all of those who are taking a full 30 day ban during a Pre-Patch no less.
Yes esp as even 3 days to review after that is a joke and that was at his level so those that don’t are screwed.
