it won’t ever be fixed until blizzard changes their API and stops all addon developers.
Again, this has been around since early vanilla wow. It was only found out in cata when rdruids used runtime scripts to not override their rejuves and other hots.
Pve’ers knew this forever and it was commonly used to change your skill’s tooltip based on your talent choices for talents and pvp talents when macroing them together.
The /cleartarget() isn’t ever needed and yes you CAN use it on focus targets and even mouseover targets.
All in all, I’m happy people are starting to learn about macroing. There is a ton you can actually do.
Edit: Using some addons such as GSE for example, you can use it to interact w/ weakauras and basically do a 100% perfect rotation in 1 button.

The macros in this topic are using cleartarget() with “exists” to smuggle detailed info about the game state into the /cast conditional. Can you give an example of how to create this same effect with an alternative method?

People seem to believe simply making cleartarget() unusable will fix the problem.
clear target is not needed at all to smuggle detailed info w/ exist. Exist was added recently to help lua reading for what I talked about recently which is talent changes.
They can’t simply remove clear target from being read. They tried this before in cata mainly during spine of deathwing w/ rdruids being not able to read hots on allies but it failed and came back late cata/wod.
I’ve used runtime scripts to help the GSE community in the past to create perfect 100% uptime rotations for classes.
Edit: I will write up a macro that doesn’t use the clear target modifier for mouseover when I’m able to get free from work.

It seems like it’s a bit much to me. I don’t believe this is what blizz ever intended for us to do.
they did. It’s what allows you to enjoy these addons you love some much.
Edit: An old example I’m able to remember and write up off the cuff due to having to help guildies do this for raids and weakauras.

I actually just left a solo q because of this.
I’ll take the 150 cr penalty and move on.
Shami has two melee training him but manages to land every kick on cooldown.
Not only that you have warr and dks not even looking at you that kick you as they are running by wearing a blindfold.
Ran into this multiple times tonight and its extremely infuriating.

This will 100% be addressed in some way.
I say this isn’t what they intended simply because why would they add an embellishment that rewards you for juking a kick when you can make a macro that will 100% guarantee you’ll never waste a kick?
It’s mind blowing to me that someone would think these macros are okay…They play the game for you by making the perfect decision 100% of the time.
I hope blizz finds a way to burn all of this nonsense to the ground…that’s the only way they’ll save pvp at this point.

You can still juke it, depending on button location irl. If it’s attached to a mouse for example, you’ll be able to juke it 100%. If it’s attached to a keyboard though, good luck. 
This isn’t the grossest it can get. Look into GSE and it’s interaction ability w/ weakaura and put 2 and 2 together, you’ll make this face after. 
The only way this ends is for blizzard to close off the lua and tell modders to shove off. (you will lose your special UI’s/weakauras/everything and be stuck on OG wow) and a lot of modders/mod repository businesses will be quite upset about that.

to be honest, I’d agree myself. But I’m the type of person to hate on curseforge/overwolf once they decided to morph into the business monstrosity they are. They caused a lot of my addons (or mods so to say) to depreciate.
A lot of everyone’s favorite mods, I am the only developer keeping those things going and even I’m tempted to stop.
Adibags/Diplomancer/Tinydps to name a few.

If you want that to happen, I’d suggest to bombard the president of blizzard w/ your concerns/etc on twitter/x and for them to fully close the lua and force everyone into oldschool wow ui while forcing blizzard to get off their backside for once.
OFC it’d be a hard press for that to happen due to him being part of that high end pve community and also method/etc would not like that.
ofc they wouldn’t its all a business to them. how fast they can down something is their business model and mods help them do that with the least amount of effort. and they have an army of people to gas light everyone into thinking they don’t need them.
would they still get the bosses down? sure, but some of these guilds employ coders to made addons for them, so they can have an advantage.
get rid of these addons and let people use their own awareness to play the game instead of some stupid addon making a sound each time a mechanic happens that needs to be avoided or in the case of pvp every time someone walls trinkets etc.
that’s what closing the lua would do. No more addon developers like me, just good ol’ wow and regular macro’s that everyone WAS used to.
i’m already on that bro. i use no addons. but good thing OP let everyone know about this macro ig. really productive in getting people to know how to abuse it.
If they would remove all arena 123 and /cast @ macros, sure. As it is everyone has to have abilities bound to be able to both heal every team mate, decurse, or some other utility instantly and they don’t often have to target to do it. Which is a clear advantage
I mean I guess, but I don’t make macros for all of that even with an MMO mouse, that’s way too many keybinds. I just target party 1, 2 and self with scroll wheel up/down and middle click and do the overwhelming majority of things that way
