Automation Addons

When are we going to see the automation addons addressed in classic?

I am of course speaking about the addons that do things for you, which in turn break ToS.

Mass Guild Inviting Addons
Auto Sell Addons
Auto Accept/Complete Quest Addons
Auto Follow/Anti AFK addons/weakauras

Let’s be honest, most people use these addons as it is hard to compete with gold sellers, botters and min/maxers without them. But these need to be addressed because at a certain point these addons are just promoting botting systems. You remove and change certain functions of the game for the sake of the community, but you don’t see how some of these addons promote pernicious systems in-game.

I know there’s people out there who love these addons and are going to be upset at this but again, at a certain point if you cannot script or make macro in-game to do said action, and only an addon can perform this action, then there’s a big issue here that should be addressed.

You also have people selling addons that streamers are promoting.
Who remembers the old pump and dump scheme addons?

Those all still exist in retail, so very unlikely they will/can remove them without changing how the command system works.

what is the problem that you are trying to address?

You can take my junk selling addon from my cold, dead hands.

Every modern MMO has it as a button option in the vendor window, too. :smiling_face_with_tear:

You guys don’t see a problem where one can go afk in a city and an addon will mass invite 100s of people into their guild. I understand they exist in retail, but maybe the problems with classic will force them to actually make a change in retail.

Blizzard allowed multiboxers for years until the point in classic, where they would see 1 - 40 or 80 man multiboxer wiping entire raids and servers, so it had to be addressed then and they made the decision to make mutliboxing a bannable offense.

They do have the ability to ban these addons as there are numerous addons from the past they have banned, even mainstream addons from curse.

What? You’re mad that somebody saves a few seconds at the vendor or quest NPC? Have you talked to a therapist about your issues?

How about they address issues that are actually detrimental to the game? There’s a report button, by the way. They don’t need to remove a bunch of addons from everyone to get rid of some bad actors.

When I can go into my options and check a box to auto-decline guild invites? It’s a minor annoyance at best

lol WoOoOOOOOoooSH

you guys really are no use.

I report those cockroaches for spam.

I do not think that means what you think it means

a lot of these things should just be QoL updates to WoW at this point anyways so go for it… assuming they add them to the game.

Blizzard gets away with a lot because they let addon devs pick up their slack so it’s about time auto selling junk, auto quest accept/complete etc get put in game even for classic.

the guild one isn’t even a big deal either because cesspool guilds can be pretty damn fun…just turn off guild invites if you don’t like that addon. lol

the solution for your problem already exists in game for that one

What’s your solution for streamers selling addons?

The issue here is no one here actually has read ToS and all these trolls love bootlicking TSM and paid addons.

I see you missed my point entirely, the issue here is not that someone is saving “a few seconds at the vendor or quest NPC.” The issue here is that automation addons break ToS. Plain and simple. There are addons that sellers use that allow people to go afk and follow them and sell questing and various other activities for what have you. Have you talked a therapist about your virulence?

These people support exactly that.

the 100 people have to accept the invite. So no.

whatever you’re smoking, pass it this way my guy. Being that disillusioned must be fun.

i am sure the disapproval of someone hiding behind an alt to protect his e-dentity will weigh deeply on me for the rest of my life.
