Are these against the ToS? Giving it a shot to see what happens.
I’m not sending a whisper, so anyone with guild invites turned to auto decline doesn’t see anything.

They’re a real scumbag move.
But no, I doubt they’re against the EULA, considering how common they are.
I want LFG to be RDF as much as the next guy but please don’t do this, whisper first.
Personally, if I ever get random guild invites multiple times, I’ll end up joining the guild and very politely explaining that I don’t want to be in their guild, and to please stop inviting me. If it happens again, I’ll once again reiterate politely that I don’t want to be in the guild and ask to stop being spammed with invites.
When it happens again, I will spam the ever-loving hell out of their guild chat until I’m either kicked or I’m silenced and I /gquit
. Without fail, every time this happens, I see a bunch of people leave the guild in question. Usually they’re big “leveling guilds” so it averages like 30 people leaving within the first minute. They almost always either kick the immature idiots who spam people with g invites, or they remove the permission for the lowest ranks to invite people. Or they don’t learn their lesson and they allow me to spam relentlessly until the people who are determined to tolerate it are the only ones left online.
It’s funny too, because they often think I’m completely focused and bent spamming them, but can move guild chat into its own small chat box and I just have a macro that sends like 5 lines to guild chat every time I press it. I can literally do it all day without it affecting my play or slowing me down in any way.
Guilds that do this should be dispersed and the leaders/perpetrators banned.
You are way more patient with this than I am.
I join and spam my max character limit macro for “STOP INVITING” or my left over demons chains announcement macro from kara till they boot me.
It’s extra annoying you can’t report off just the guild invite.
I love it.
The beautiful thing too: I don’t think the EULA is very specific about this anymore, but I have literally never been banned or even warned for this. I’m pretty sure back in the day when the language in the ToS was more exhaustive and specific, it specified that it’s against the rules to spam public channels where people were automatically able to see your spam.
But in private channels, spam isn’t a major concern because all private channels such as party, guild, custom channels, etc., allow people to control who gets to join and/or send messages.
I’ve had big guilds all say they were reporting me (Including one of Asmongold’s guilds on Skyfury), tens of people angrily whispering me, even threats that I’d be doxxed and that I’d better close my bank accounts. Literally the only consequence of this has been that some untold hundreds of these scummy types of people have done me the favor of adding me to their ignore list, and that I’ve scattered probably a few thousand members of these guilds to the wind.
To reiterate, OP: DO NOT do this. Huge scumbag move.
I think aspects of it are in there but no real “DO NOT DO THIS” statement.
Frankly it’s harmless retaliation to spamming and interruptions to your game play.
Yeah, that’s how I look at it. Even if it is an actionable offense, I have a hard time thinking that a CS representative would really find me in the wrong if they looked at chat logs, since I not only give people multiple opportunities to stop, but my spamming is literally only possible because people are making a conscious decision to spam me first.
you’ve read the ToS when you first loaded into the game. so you tell us. are they against the ToS?
Oh man Robokappa I was trolling the raid and dungeon forum with you back in vanilla, although you were Robokop I think back then?
I had to add the A when i came to Sargeras…
