Authentictor Setup Broken on Blizz Site

Seems you guys messed up your own website and haven’t resovled the issue

  • Login to your account
  • Go to Account Overview
  • Click on Security
  • Click on “SET UP AN AUTHENTICATOR”
  • That’s literally the end of the road

How you guys messed this up… You literally cannot add an autenticator. That page after “SET UP AN AUTHENTICATOR” provides no way to setup the autenticator.

Yours is literally the only report I’ve seen on this.

What browser are you using, and have you tried any others? This could easily be blocked functionality from a browser.

It’s not being blocked, I’m literally saying the next page offers nothing

I have 3 choices

  • Choose Apple or Andriod (they only take you to the stores to download on phones)
  • Setup Physical
  • Setup SMs

On that page there is literally no way to setup the Authenticator app once it’s on the phone. The site is leaving that part out.

When you click on “Setup authenticator” this is where it takes you:

  • blizzard[dot]com / security / authenticator / download

There is nothing on that page that allows you to setup a Smartphone Authenticator

Under your name in the upper right hand corner is a dropdown, choose Account Settings.

Then Security from the list on the left.

Then Blizzard Authenticator - Setup Authenticator

Setup a Mobile Authenticator under Other Options

Then do the Security Check.

ok, that needs reworded because when you tell users that (and I worked with the military and have had physical tokens) tells me I need a token in my hand. Didn’t help it was worded “other options” above it, too. Other option tells me “there’s a third way to add a security feature”

I now have it added on. Just FYI: Backpack space appears broken as it does not increase the size anymore (my other account it worked long time ago)

This account I got the Pet for activating it but the Backpack remains the same.

should I post bug report ?

No, that is working as intended. The pet is the bonus from adding an authenticator, the backpack slots are for having both an authenticator and SMS protect on the account.

“We take account security seriously, and we know you do, too. So, when you add Blizzard SMS Protect to your account along with the Blizzard Authenticator (physical or mobile app), you’ll gain four extra bag slots —account-wide—in each character’s main backpack.”

Well, can’t do that then because I have my phone set to my other account and Blizzard, anal as they are, don’t allow that…

I probably would refer to it as security conscious, but there are reasons for this sadly.

I tried adding a Google phone number but Blizzard blocks them

Yes because those types of numbers aren’t supported for security reasons, it’s the same with pre-paid cell phones.

And if you work with our techs, we can likely find the root of your issue, Tankn - but trolling this forum in particular is a spectacularly poor idea.

https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/14477 that article is on the Blackscreen issue.

Either post in Tech Support with your specific issues and computer specifications, or open a tech ticket - you can even ask for a call-back.
