My phone went nuts so I backed up my authenticator info (restore and serial) and reset the phone, but when I went to install the authenticator, it asks me to log into blizzard and when I do, the phone authenticator gives me a request code like 66WW, but I have no clue where to type that.
I installed the authenticator and have been using it for a while, but I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong this time.
I signed into Play Store and typed Blizzard. I saw the App Battle.net and installed that. There was nothing else I saw to be downloaded.
I had the new version installed before and did the migration before. When I search for the app in Play Store, it only give me battle.net and nothing else to download.
Well, I guess I’m done with this game. I can’t log in and can’t figure out how to set up the authenticator. There is only one thing to download and it’s not working.
I’ve already migrated the authenticator back many months ago. All I did was write down the restore/serial numbers, wiped/reset my phone, went to download the battle.net all, there is only one app to download. Downloaded it and it’s asking me to type in a request code and no clue where to type it.
I followed these instructions:
However, It was only for one phone not multiple devices.
Tried all the suggestions offered here. This shouldn’t be that hard. I managed to remove the authenticator from my account to try and start over, but now it wants the some code that is numbers only.
I’ve been at this for 2 hours!!!
I’m done. All I wanted to do was reinstall my authenticator after resetting my phone. So, I’m done…
In the app, click your portrait, should be top left. There is a menu button for the authenticator. click it. Where it states no login request, on the bottom click enter code manually. I believe it is looking to match the code, or, for the 8 digit code that is present.
You also removed the part about you not caring in the slightest about people that don’t have smartphones because they’re not giving you extra revenue. Again.
I don’t use a Smartphone with my Blizzard account in any way, short of having it set up to send a code if I lose my keychain Auth. Blizz has had my number for more than 10 years without me getting a single unwanted text.
I see you are passionate about not using a smartphone. How does the smartphone give Blizzard any revenue? I can’t think of anything to be honest.
How does me using a phone for an Auth program, if I switch to that, provide Blizzard revenue?
Please answer that, otherwise I am going to assume you just want to say things that are not factual for fun, or you have a large misunderstanding of how things work.
How are you using the Mobile App without a smartphone?
My account WAS authenticated though the magic of WinAuth. I’m fine with 2-factor authentication. I own a fliphone and blizzard even has my number. Hell, I wouldn’t even be here without the “get the app to unlock these slots!” in my bag now,
I am not using it. If you read what I said, I use my keychain Auth. I have SMS texting set up. That is not the Mobile app.
Oh, yes, something not supported by Blizzard.
You don’t need the app to get the slots. You needed an Authenticator (keychain counts) and SMS texting set up. Proof, I have had the bag slots and pet for over a decade. No app.
Blizzard is not, and never has, sold access to our phones or data. Blizzard is not selling advertising slots to promote whatever someone wants to sell. FB does, Twitter does. Every news paper and magazine does. Blizzard does not market its app as a place to sell adverts. You will only see products they have themselves, which is annoying - but is not selling advertisements.
I have zero unwanted text messages from Blizzard or anyone else as a result of Blizzard having my number for a decade.
I gather then, that this is just a huge misunderstanding on your part.
Yes, they did move the Digital Auth over to the Bnet App. Either you migrate/use it, or they remove the Auth from the account like the Migration article and all the posts/warnings/news articles said. EDIT TO ADD: They do not remove the physical keychain Auth. That still works just like normal. It is only folks who were using the digital stand alone Auth who got migrated to the integrated app Auth.
Blizzard makes zero money off the phone app, or having authentication.
Seriously, Blizzard is a lot more secure than Windows, Facebook, Twitter, and most other big software/app companies. Blizzard has not lost or sold our personal data, ever.
I honestly worry with Microsoft in charge that it might change. So far though, Blizz is one of the good guys on the personal data front.
Yes, I know. Mine is 14 years old now. Again though, while I don’t like apps at all, when the time comes I will switch. They are not watching over me like some evil vulture hoping I use their app. Waiting, watching.
If they wanted to sell my data they already would have. I log into the app on my computer every day. I log into the games most days. They have my name, address, phone, payment info, IP address, history of IP addresses, hardware data, etc. And yet - Blizzard has not sold that. I don’t see ads for for random products, I don’t get emails from anyone but Blizz, I don’t get texts from anyone but Blizz. Only ones I signed up for.
Honestly, I hate the same big data selling stuff too, but Blizz is not doing it.
The Mobile Auth is no longer stand alone. It is integrated into the Bnet Launcher so anyone wanting to use it, needs to have a device compatible with the Launcher.
