I still use the authenticator I bought from Blizzard about 12 years ago. Still works great but I was thinking of changing it to my phone because it can’t last forever.
My concern is I get zero service where I live. I can connect to my wifi with my phone but get no bars or text service.
Will this be a problem or will I get the code through the wifi?
I keep my phone connected to my wifi when I am home. I get my authenticator codes just fine from the app. But my wifi signal does provide me with full bars on my phone.
Are you able to visit websites and use the wifi as normal on your phone? If so, then you shouldn’t have any issues.
Yes, I can use the internet, discord, etc on my phone while connected to the wifi. I can’t get text messages, phone calls (no bars) though since I get no signal where I live.
So I want to make sure its an app through the wifi and not a text message to my phone number.
Yes, the app itself will show you the option for manually entering a code into the game, launcher, website, etc. OR you can approve the request straight from the app itself.
It’s an app that uses wifi.
I have it downloaded on an old phone with no service for my kids account.

You are golden. The auth code, or push to approve happens directly in the app, not via text.
As an aside, have you considered wifi calling while at home? The only thing I do not like about it, and have mine turned off, is that it does not hand the call off to a tower when I leave the wifi. However not an issue as I have reception at my home.
Might be a call solution for you though. Sorry went off track, I just have a background in cellular from many years ago and it sometimes pushes its way out of me haha.
