Authenticator on my mobile

Using the Authenticator on my phone, it said “The Authenticator has a new home” and it is “moving to Battle.net Mobile App for a better and more secure experience.”

It directs me to download the Battle.net app, which I did. NOW, when I try to log in on my PC, I get the usual pop up for the authenticator code. BUT, when I open the new “Battle.net app” to get the code, I am prompted to LOGIN… and (here’s the kicker)… it asks for to enter an Authenticator code!

But, when I open the Authenticator app… I get the “has a new home at Battle.net Mobile App”

Can someone tell me how I can play WoW today, please?

Check this article, see if it helps, and I’d move your thread to CS so they can provide more assistance.

I did as instructed in the support article. Here’s what I had to do to start playing…

  1. Log in to the game.
  2. When prompted for the Authenticator code, open the new Battle.net Mobile app.
  3. Log in to the Battle.net Mobile app (there is no apparent way to stay logged in)
  4. When prompted for the Authenticator code, exit (without closing) the Battle.net Mobile app and open the Authenticator.
  5. When the “has been moved” screen displays, close it and you see the normal Authenticator screen with the code.
  6. Tap “Approve”

Thank GOD they instituted this much simpler way to log in to WoW! The old way was SO confusing with me having to tap my phone TWICE to get logged in!

You should be able to stay logged into the Bnet app. Mine doesn’t log me out. Check your settings for that. And also check your notification settings for Bnet to make sure it’s allowing the pop ups.

You’ll want to get it all settled in Bnet app soon, because they will be retiring the authenticator app.

If you have any other issues, feel free to ask CS or the Bnet mobile app support forum.

I was having the same problem with my authenticator and Battle.net won’t keep me logged in either. I did discover that I could still get in to play if I just closed the popup screen and then it allowed my usual authenticator “allow” or “decline” buttons. It was so simple and easy and now it’s all messed up. If it aint broke don’t fix it. Seems like so many of the changes lately have just gone in the wrong direction as far as user satisfaction goes. Just to be clear, I did read the article and checked all of the settings and information it suggested to get the app to work properly, and still no dice. Eventually I’m going to have to call support when I have time to hold for who knows how long to get it to work the way they apparently think it should.

I mean, I get it but this isn’t them making it “harder to log into the game” you just missed the opportunity to swap your authenticator over the easy way lol. Be grateful it’s not microsoft authenticator, you would have to call them to reset it for you.

Just hit the X at the top left corner and it goes away and prompts you with the code.

I can use my Apple Watch it’s so much easier than my iPhone

so this is actually legit? was starting to think I got hacked or something

What are you supposed to do if you have never been able to log into the Bnet app?

I tried it when I got my new phone about 2 years ago. The app just goes through a repeating log-in request which it never completes.

When I got the prompt about the Authenticator app this morning, I re-downloaded Bnet. After 2 years… same result. It WILL NOT log in for me.

Honestly just stay logged into the bnet app and only deal with it when it makes you log back in once a month.

Further more, get a fob and don’t deal with the app. I’m still using a fob from 2012 and it works fine.

You try to get help here:

Or you try to the support articles and submit a ticket here:

The fobs are beginning to die and when they do, the process gets more complicated with tickets and the like. Eventually, everyone needs to be on mobile.

Yea, I know it takes time, I had an issue once and someone was able to help me pretty quick with giving a bunch of info. But if you got a NEW fob it would take probably until WoW is totally offline to die. Mine is still fine after 11 years.

There’s no such thing as a new fob. They stopped manufacturing them years ago.

I know. I’m saying for people who are this unwilling to learn a new way to do it, Amazon still has new ones, and ebay also does. There are other ways to get them than from Blizzard themselves.

Personally I would just learn to use the app and not worry about it. I have a bigger problem with the stupid revamp of the launcher and all the ads on it.

But it’s important that people understand these ones aren’t new. The battery can still fail tomorrow in them, because they were manufactured years ago. We’ve seen people come to the CS forums who just bought a “new” one and a month later, it died.

It’s unfortunately just not a good option anymore.

Agreed. But I understand why you tossed out the idea for the fob. It’s just kind of a roll of the dice for how long it’ll last, sadly.

Have you changed your settings to have the WoW page be the one it automatically goes to? I found that helps a lot with the ads.

Thanks, I’ll look into that and change my setting. I honestly don’t play any other Blizzard games so I just want the play button and maint. notices.

Agreed. I do play some D4, but 90% of my time is WoW. So I definitely want that play button to pop up and the notices.
