Authenticator & BNet Don't Work

So I can’t log into BNet on my phone. When I try it says I have to enter a code into the authenticator. The authenticator no longer works of course. So now what? I can’t get the security code to log into the game anymore.

It depends on if you have SMS protect, you could probably use the text service to remove, then readd the authenticator.

I’m tapping on all options given to see if one will work. This is more of a pain than it’s worth. I might remove the authenticator and not reinstall it.

If cybersecurity were easy, it’d be pointless.

Could you elaborate on this?

Did you change your phone at some point, Fob, or remove the Authenticator app and add it back? From what I can see it was added back in 2022. If you’ve switched phones or recently downloaded the app, it might be that the version you have is not actually sync’d with your account.

When I bring up the authenticator it takes me to the BNet log in. When I try to log into BNet it give me a four letter code I must enter into the authenticator to be able to log into BNet. When I look at the authenticator again it sends me back to BNet to log in, there is no tap to approve or to enter code. It’s a circle .

Are you sure that code is what you need to enter? It sounds like the request identifier.

Does it look like this?

If so, and you don’t have the option to open the Authenticator on the Battle.net App, it might be trying to connect to the old version of the Authenticator App. That was retired on the 5th of this month.

If you have SMS set up, you may be able to use the Self-Help option to remove the Authenticator.

Just to check though, you are getting the bnet messenger app, not the stand alone authenticator?

It looks like that yes. Oh I bet it is trying to connect to the old version. Thought I’d changed it over but I’m not positive. There is a dropdown that wasn’t there the first time I tried that I can choose to send the code to the (I presume) old authenticator. Gonna wait a moment to post this as it won’t let me post two in a row. Trying now.

That worked! BNet asked to activate the authenticator and I’m in. TY, that helped me sort it out cause I was a bit lost LOL. It was running me in circles!

It can get a little confusing between the two. Glad it worked!
