I am sure that is the same thing in most countries who had shutdowns. Our lovely government has been paying people MORE in some cases than they got when they were working and continues to do so for the next year.
Hmm so the base game + 2x 6 months subscription is $267âŹ
New Australian would need to pay $267 minimum to play wow for 12 months?
Hrmmmmmmmmm
This is because you only need to buy shadowlands now but still.
I would have a hard time telling my friend, come play wow with me this year $267⏠for the cheapest option.
Or $339.4⏠for the epic version and if you pay monthly!
So thereâs a short window between shadowlands launch
(which I foolishly AGAIN prepaid for⊠Got me again, Bliz!~ Naughty! Shame on me!)
And this price hikeâŠ
The opening week better impress upon me that this is the best expansion in the history of ever and ever if you want to keep my attention. Pure crack on a cupcake level!
Track record of support during BFA sure as sugar ainât boosting my confidenceâŠ
<3 goes out to you mate but thatâs business; Australia economy doesnât look to be doing too hot right now and it doesnât make sense for a US business to bare the burden of your weaker currency.
Plenty of good free games exist; suggest saving your money in these tumultuous times.
So the price hikes in 2018 in regards to store purchases whern we had a strong economy were for what - greed?
Local laws and taxes perhaps? I donât live in the down under. Could be your country instituted import / export taxes and Blizzard pushed the fees down to the consumer? Could be that it cost Blizzard more money to rent hardware over there to support you?
Itâs also entirely possible it was greed; but I would like to think Blizz tries to charge everyone that 14.99USD and is simply doing price-matching.
No country exists in isolation; Australia wasnât the only country that was doing well then. The AUD:USD exchange rate in June 2018 was only slightly better than it is now. $1 AUD was worth $.756 USD. Currently, $1 AUD is worth $.728 USD.

Correct. NZ was lower both times and yet no change to their costs in 2018 or nowâŠ
No only dumb people fall for this.
A month or so ago when our dollar was higher we were paying more for it. In 2012 when the usd was trash compared to aud it didnât get cheaper.
Donât fall for this baloney nonsense. This is as old as time.
And correctly when our aud gets stronger, prices wont drop either.
Nope. Theyâre just getting greedy. Record profits, smaller but more ârepeatableâ content every expansion, fire tons of their workers. Charge us more.
They sure didnât charge us less when the usd was doing crap in 2012. But donât worry, keep white knighting for blizzard guy, Iâm sure they really appreciate it. Itâs a real âf you, I got mineâ attitude.
Its not like aussies attack americans all the time on the forums. Oh wait.
No youâre not. See you next month.
imagine not paying for your subscription in gold in 2020
Not a good time to announce that, thatâs for sure.
I am surprised though that the sub price hasnât changed for US after 16 years though right?
Ive been paying 19 canadian a month for quite sometime now. Even my dinner out sometimes costs more than that.
Eh itâs less white knighting and more about understanding how a business functions; the Australian purchasing power has decreased significantly. Transcontinental bandwidth isnât exactly cheap and itâs entirely possible that cost of operation in that region has gone up as a result due to local inflation.
Does this mean that the US based organization should pay-the-buck, or do you raise the price of the service?
Anyhow, best of luck.
Yeah youâre real victims.
It hasnât and itâs normal for people to not understand. They fall for people saying âoh this currency has changed in valueâ hook line and sinker. But be assured when the opposite is true, it never changes to benefit the consumer.
Nobody is bearing any cost you beautiful knight, theyâre making record profits while firing their staff, giving us less content each expansion and selling us transmogs.
